Poorly designed product, December 29, 2004
This review is from: Remington MB-45 Corded/Cordless Titanium Beard & Moustache Trimmer (Health and Beauty)
My initial thoughts of the unit were pretty good, as I used the unit my impression of the unit quickly went downhill. I figured I was just spoiled with my old Norelco Maverick T-3000 so I kept using the unit to get used to it. The feel is very ergonomic however the power switch is located on the right side where your left thumb would be able to turn it off. It would be perfect if I was left handed but I'm not as well as the majority of people. The unit is very light weight, which in this case is not good due to the lack of quality built into the unit. If you were to drop this unit it will break. After using this trimmer 3 times the pop-up fine trimming part stopped working, reason its the most poorly designed part that I've ever seen. There is a small plastic piece that failed, this part shouldn't of been plastic and its fastened down by plastic as well. I seriously doubt that anyone that owns this unit still has this part functioning correctly. The inside mechanism is very exposed which gets easily clogged with hair. You have to spend a good amount of time cleaning this unit after every use. This wouldn't be an issue if the blade assembly didn't snap off (which its not supposed to do) every time you open it to clean it. Overall the unit looks great but is functionless. I plan on returning this unit, it must have been designed by a hairless left handed engineer. I wish Norelco still made the Maverick T-3000.

Don't waste your money on any Remington product!, December 6, 2004
This review is from: Remington MB-45 Corded/Cordless Titanium Beard & Moustache Trimmer (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this item to replace another Remington trimmer that broke almost immediately after using it (the PG-200). With my first use, the proximity of the beard length adjustment to the On/Off switch resulted in my beard looking like I had mange. I had to trim down way shorter than I had wanted. Foolishly undaunted, I gave this trimmer another try after my beard grew back in. Armed with caution, I carefully trimmed my beard. Within only a few moments, the blades became so clogged they wouldn't cut any more (and I do not have a particularly heavy beard). So I slid off the plastic head to clean the blades and, with the first flick of the brush, the whole assembly sprung apart and was irreparable. When I called Remington's so-called "customer service," they were totally unresponsive. They had no interest in actually remedying the situation and the person who claimed to be the supervisor of customer service said (and I quote), "Well, I don't make the products." Welcome to the 21st century, folks.

Best Trimmer I've Ever Used!, July 30, 2005
This review is from: Remington MB-45 Corded/Cordless Titanium Beard & Moustache Trimmer (Health and Beauty)
I absolutely LOVE this trimmer. I've used several Norelco trimmers and was reluctant to switch to another brand, but after I started using the Remington, it was incredible. I've used this for over 2 years now and it's still working like it's brand new. The pop up trimmer is fantastic. The Remington has superior cutting than other trimmers I've used, and it cuts consistenly so everything always looks even and perfect. I've dropped the trimmer many times in the sink or on the floor and it proved to be very strong and unbreakable. The Remington never chipped or cracked, but the guards on the Norelcos I've used cracked several times, and if the guard cracks and one of them comes off, you can't use it. The Remington never has this problem. The trimmer is very light yet feels strong, and has a very comfortable grip. The wheel to turn the length settings is flawless. With the Norelco trimmers I've used, if you press hard on your face, the setting changes and cuts off more than you want to, but the Remington locks in place so you cannot make any mistakes. It charges very quickly as well. 2 years later, it's cutting as if the blades were still brand new. The blades are titanium so they sharpen over time the more you use them - and never need oiling. I really have only good things to say about this trimmer. The product is high quality and very reasonable in price. You can also use this to trim and clean the sides and back of your head, and to clean up the neck area. I cut one of my friend's hair, and he bought one of these and absolutely loves it. He convinced another friend and a neighbor to try it as well. I'm very picky about things like this, and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone.
