The good news is that this is a great trimmer. Perfect for getting a clean edge on a mustache, or tidying up sideburns, or other such touch-up trims. Cuts fast, clean and the shape makes it very easy to maneuver and see what you're doing.

The bad news is that the build quality is below par. My first one lasted about 1 month. Just stopped working even with a fresh battery. Mailed it back to Remington, and they sent me a replacement. That ran for about two months. Died, mailed it back, got another replacement. That one must have been built on a good day, since it lasted nearly six months. Died, mailed it back, and am now on my 4th one.

Remington is very quick to replace it - about two weeks each time. They send a brand new unit, and since it is so small, mailing it back to them only costs around a buck.

So, if you don't mind going through the replacement routine a few times, this is worth getting. It does work well while it works!

If you're of a certain age where trimming your nose, eyebrow and ear hair happens more often than getting a haircut, you would profit from getting one of these gadgets. This slick little gizmo does the job and more with no cuts, no pain, no nothing. You hardly see the hair going goodbye!

Some Chinese company marketed a knock off of this product a few years back; it was advertised on TV all the time. That was a cheap plastic thing that took forever to deliver and didn't last.

This one's made of titanium and will alst a long time. It can be a little temperamental, like not starting everytime you turn it on. That doesn't mean it's dead, like that other fellow reported, however. Try taking the battery out and putting it back in.

For the price you pay for this workmanlike gadget, that's not much to ask.

This does exactly what I needed: it quickly and effectively cuts the hairs on my neck, which are pretty thick. So, without getting in the shower with a razor, I can look better groomed in about 30 seconds. I like the angle of the cutting head, and you can't beat the price. The metal casing feels solid and durable in my hand, although the connection between the head and the battery cover could be stronger so that it doesn't come loose when I pull the cap off. The battery has lasted through plenty of trimmings. In all, after doing some research on similar products, I think this is the best choice for a compact trimmer, although I haven't battle-tested any others.

The one big shortfall is that the adapter you put on the head to allow you to trim at variable lengths is pretty much useless (as it seems to be on all the similar products). I've tried long hair, short hair, in-between hair: they simply don't wind up getting to the cutting blade, and can sometimes yank unpleasantly. So, if you need to be able to cut hair of varying lengths, like your sideburns, you'll need one of the larger, less-portable trimmers with adjustable heads. Note, however, that you *can* tilt the head a bit, and leave yourself some peach-fuzz (nice on the back of your neck under your collar), or you can angle it down toward the skin and it's almost as good as a shave.

If what you need is just a quick effective *removal* of almost any hair, this will do the job very, very well, and is extremely compact for travel. (Plus: no charging cord, as you just need a battery.) Then, just keep a small pair of scissors to finish up the sideburns and around the ears...

I received this trimmer for Christmas 2008. Used a couple of times in January '09. Went to use it again and it was dead. Changed the battery, still dead. A whole two uses! Wow! On the bright side, it did work well those two times.

It was a gift I gave to my boyfriend and he is very pleased with it.
