5.0 out of 5 stars Plug-in electric razor
I have used Remington razors for probably 50 years. I have always used the microscreen versions. The last two I had were rechargable and worked fine until the batteries wore out. Then I found out that the batteries were not replacable. I decided that from now on I would only buy razors that had to be plugged in (no batteries). The MS2-100 model is that type. I have...

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy plastic tabs are a nuisance
I eventually gave up requesting replacement head housings--that's the removable portion that holds the screens. The thin tabs that are essential to holding the screens in place break under normal use--not when I'm changing the screens or blades, but they simply fall off, and replacements are not sold in stores. They sent me free replacements, then when I said that I had...

5.0 out of 5 stars Plug-in electric razor, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver (Health and Beauty)
I have a beard, so I only use a razor to trim around the beard. The two screens instead of the usual three screens is easier to use on small areas of my face, which is the case if trimming around a beard. The combination of no batteries, small "footprint", low price and doing a really good job of shaving causes me to rate this razor a "five".

4.0 out of 5 stars Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver, September 29, 2005

A corded Electric Shaver is what I was looking for. Have had a Remington Corded Shaver that has worked flawlessly for over 20 years and only had to replace screen and cutters. Tried their top of the line rechargable shaver and it only lasted two years and found out batteries were not replacable. Back to corded shaver for me. The MS2-100 shaver works fine and seems to have more power than battery operated. Sorry to learn that Remington has discontinued it's manufacture. Another disapointment, replacement screens and cutters cost more than paid for the complete shaver.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a bargain, October 14, 2005

I have used Remington and other brand microscreen razors for most of my life, but have always been disappointed in the cordless/battery operation. The life of the batteries has always been one of my peeves, too. Too soon, at the end, I'm recharging nightly -- what's the point? I was pleased and a bit skeptical at the availability of this product at this price. I've paid more for cutters or replacement screens. Not to fear, the MS2-100 is exactly what I wanted: a basic razor at an outstanding price. It works well at shaving (much better than my previous Braun, which cost more than twice as much). I'll bet this cheapie lasts a lot longer than my expensive cordless shavers.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it., September 25, 2006
This review is from: Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver (Health and Beauty)
Bought this shaver only after reading the other positive reviews on this site. I agree, this is a great razor, especially for the price.

It gives me a very close shave.

It's light and easy to handle.

The added benefit of the trimmer working along with the blades is GENIUS! Where have you been all of my life? Finally I can easily cut the longer hairs on my neck. I feel like it's taking me half the time to shave now.

The more advanced models of this shaver offer a rechargeable battery option and the ability to rinse the blades under water. I have no need for these. Plugging it in and having it work full strength everytime works fine for me. Blowing out the hairs in the blades doesn't take me but a few seconds. This shaver is a steal!!!!

Other guy whining about it not being cordless???

Do you really expect to get a cordless shaver for under 16 dollars?

This is a steal at this price and shaves nicely.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy plastic tabs are a nuisance, June 21, 2007
This review is from: Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver (Health and Beauty)
I eventually gave up requesting replacement head housings--that's the removable portion that holds the screens. The thin tabs that are essential to holding the screens in place break under normal use--not when I'm changing the screens or blades, but they simply fall off, and replacements are not sold in stores. They sent me free replacements, then when I said that I had had another breakage, they didn't respond. I told them I was willing to pay for these things, but they acted like I was still complaining that the first one broke, when it was that they were so flimsy. The screens fly off without these tiny tabs 3mm wide, which makes the whole thing useless.

I liked the shave I got from it, but without an easy way to continually replace this fragile part, I recommend that people not buy it.

I bought this as a replacement for the one that quit after years of service. I've been using this product since it came out. I have one for travel and one for home. They are dependable, economical and less problems than the recharge models I have tried. If you use this every day like I do, you will have to remember to replace the screen as recommended or it will bite you when the screen wears through. It gives a nice close shave. I have tried other shavers and have found no advantages over this one. It's great product and highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother 2, December 27, 2008
This review is from: Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver (Health and Beauty)
I purchased 2 of these at Amazon.com. Both motors failed right after the warranty expired. Prior to purchasing these shavers, I was under the impression that an electric shaver motor would last FOREVER! Other electric models I have owned in the past (made in USA and Germany) did last, but the replacement foils and cutter heads were not available after 10 years or so. I have been using electric shavers since 1983.

Prior to motor failure, the shaver did work well. The trimmer on this shaver was excellent for neck trimming (better than any other shaver I have used). The curved shape is not a great design for flat medicine cabinet shelves (DUH!). The electric cord was not really long enough for many motels where the outlet is a long way from the mirror. The plastic cover protector for the foil is poor in that it does not secure well. The cutter blocks attach via a plastic socket that tends to wear away over time, which is again a poor design.

I have switched to Wahl. I will not buy another Remington product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, October 31, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver (Health and Beauty)
This is absolutely the best shaver in its $20+ price range. It gives a really close shave and the trimmer is great for longer stubborn whiskers, and for beard/sideburn trimming. I've even trimmed some hair when the barber missed a spot. I did not want a cordless which was a challenge to find - they cost more, the batteries always wear out before the shaver, and I'm rarely unable to find an outlet (airports, planes, etc. all have outlets). Unfortunately, I left it plugged in and my wife knocked it in the sink where it got wet and shorted out. Now sadly I had to go pay twice the price for a cordless because this one seems no longer available.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, January 11, 2008

This review is from: Remington MS2-100 Microscreen 2TCT Men's Electric Shaver (Health and Beauty)
I have purchased at least three of the Remington corded and cordless shavers in this style and variety and have eventually returned them under warranty or thrown them away. Within a few months or year, they quit working. It may be an electric motor failure. Remington has always been prompt to honor their warranty and send me new replacements. I even had to return one of the replacements. I have some limited experience with the newer models of corded and cordless Remingtons and they seem to be holding up much better than this model. Their products give a great, close shave and are easy to maintain and use. Just be prepared to send it back under warranty if the motor starts to slow or it gets to the point that it won't work at all.
