Now that I have shaved with it for about a month, I can report that I am happy. My unit is not noisy, as some reviews had mentioned. The also mentioned issue of capturing cut whiskers among the foils and allowing them to fall out when the shaver is tipped I find to be not a problem, but an advantage. A lot less whisker and dust get trapped inside and has to be brushed out. I get about 7-8 shaves between recharges. The shaver allows you to clean it by running the cutters under a faucet, but I find that drying the unit afterward is difficult. The brush does the job just fine.
All in all, I'm very happy. Thinking about buying a second one and putting it away for later use.
Several replacement screens and cutters later, and countless shaves - it started to die.
At first, it wouldn't hold a charge. So I ran it plugged in. Eventually, even plugged in it would not run.
I would be unhappy, but I bought it in 1996. It just finished dying in 2014.
I doubt if the ones for sale here are going to be as long lived, since it sounds like they are not replacing the battery inside, just the screens and blades - but the razor I had was the best one I have owned in my lifetime.
I got 18 years use out of it, and for a number of those years, I was not only shaving my face, but my whole head.
The sellers trying to gouge people for 3x to 10x what these cost are the worst kind of people - and the refurbs they offer are unlikely to be any better than the dead one in my drawer.
Going to try a F7-7800 next. If it lasts half as long as this one did, I'll be tickled.
Then I bought an MS3-4700. It charged well. The electronic indicator showed 30 "minutes" and went down to 0 after about 15 minutes of shaving, but it still kept going on "turbo" speed for another half-hour! Keeping this one.
I only buy replacement blades/screens once a year instead at the recommended intervals.
I have always used it on battery power, and waited for it to run out of power, and then gave it a full recharge, and unplugged it, and used it again until the batteries needed a new charge.
I have not had to replace any batteries.
The screens and blades are the only things I have to replace about once a year.
I am vary happy with this shaver.
