I have been using this razor for about four minths now. It does give a decent shave, but don't expect the same smooth results as razor. No electric shaver can do that.

My complaint is with the bells and whistles that make this shaver more expensive. They really don't add much, so if given the choice again I would probably just buy a less expensive model. To be specific:
The "turbo" feature speeds up the blades a bit but doesn't make a noticable difference in shaving.

The LED readout gives a digital indicator of charge time remaining. After a full charge it reads 40 (minutes), but after a single five minute shave its down to 22 minutes. A few shaves later it reads 16 minutes or so, then it suddenly jumps down to a flashing zero to indicate its time to recharge. So, it really only serves as a general battery life indicator, not a true indicator of shave time remaining.

The flashing "time to clean" indicator really doesn't serve much purpose either because it doesn't really measure how clean the razor is, but seems to just measure how long its been since you last removed the screen.

Bottom line - decent shave, but not really worth the extra bucks to get the bells and whistles.

Received this model as a Christmas present and have been using it for about four months. Like most electric razors, it takes a bit of time for your beard to adjust. This razor seems to have cut that 'adjustment time' almost in half. The built-in indicators are very usefull in terms of reminding you to charge or clean the device. Replacement screens are costly but probably not more so than comparable brands. Overall opinion: good product, average price, good-very good performance.

after MUCH research i settled on the remington. I already had a remington cordless that i couldn't seem to kill...but wanted a closer shave.

this shaver gives a clean shave (although the three blade floating system has a tendency to tug on my beard hairs in a most painful way if i'm not careful) but you have to keep it plugged in. i've owned it for just a little over a year...and the battery life well..[is bad]. if you use it in turbo mode...you can count on a good 10 minutes tops...if you have to plug it in...it constantly flips into power save mode (if you have it in turbo)

i have never been able to understand why these companies use [bad] memory-effect nicads in their products. for that reason alone...i gave it three stars...

the funny thing is...my OTHER remington shaver? it still holds a charge...

go figure...

(to the ms3-4000's credit...my lady DID manage to drop it in the toilet once...and it emerged unscathed (the batteries were ALREADY [bad] so that wasn't the cause) so i can rate it as rather durable :)

I was very impressed with this shaver. I have owned several different types and brands but this was my first Remington. I think possibly due to the larger cutting block area, this gave me the quickest shave I have ever had. Of course putting the shaver on turbo helped a lot also. It was a close and quick shave, even on the first time using it. The turbo did drain the battery from 40 minutes to 20, but with the Nickel Metal Hydride battery, even the directions say you can plug it in all the time when not shaving, so who cares how much it drains the battery. Easy to clean under warm water. Even the long hair cutter works well. Very pleased with this shaver.

I have had three Remington shavers and they perform great, but poor battery life is the achilles heel of the product. With daily shaving, expect your battery to last about 18 months. After that, it's time to either ship it to an 'authorized repair site' and incur a big fee or plunk down more cash for a new one.

By the way, the battery bypass cord is useless if the battery dies. It can't bypass without some sustainable life in the battery so the shaver is dead when the battery goes. Not exactly what I'd call consumer friendly engineering.

I bought one of these in January of this year. It was okay at first as long as I didn't use it every day. As the months went by I could use it less and less frequently. It causes red blotches and raw skin on my face. It is definitely not for men with sensitive skin. Now I use it for trimming exclusively. It's back to Braun for me.

1. The LCD has good news and bad news. The bad: this is the worst LCD you'll ever find. If there was a R&D in Remington, they should have close it down, the moment MS3-4000 was completed. They claim that you've got 40 (and in Europe even 55) minutes of shaving? Forget it. My experience tells me, that no more than 25 (not in Turbo mode). The numbers, that should tell you the time left to the next recharge, are nothing but meaningless numbers. Don't take them too seriously and learn the shaver like me - by experience. The good news about it: That's probably the reason for MS3-4000's cheap price, comparing to other shavers with LCD.
2. Treat the shaver like a wild animal. If you squeeze it too tight, it'll scratch your face badly.
3. Besides, this is the best shaver I've ever had (including Norelco 8894 and Braun 6680, that got 5 stars in another review of mine, but it was before I met Remington), that gives you a great shave, in a short time (about 2 minutes, comparing to 3-4 minutes of other machines), gives you the highest value per price.
My choice.

I received this shaver for Christmas and have been using it daily ever since. I have a fairly heavy, mature beard. To get a smooth, complete shave takes quite a while compared to my safety razor. I also find I must shave again before an evening out, or I feel "sandpapery." With the safety razor shave, that evening touchup was optional.

One benefit that surprised me however, using the MS3-4000 is like getting a facial massage every shave - even seems to be toning up my face muscles! Don't know if it's temporary or lasting, but I do like the effect.

Remington has done it again. This kind of shaver gives me the closest shave than any other electric shaver I have owned. I love the LCD display; it takes the guessing out of cleaning, charging and replacing the screens & cutters. My best advice for this or any other electric shaver: Use Lectric Shave Pre-Shave lotion or gel. It stiffens the beard and allows your shaver to glide on your face easier. The result: a smoother, closer and longer lasting shave.

I never had a chance to rate this item. I ordered the Remington MS3-4000 and was confirmed by Amazon, then I received an e-mail the next day from Amazon cancelling my order because THEY (AMAZON) made an error in their price, well why should Amazon punish me for their error. Any good business would sell it and eat the cost of their mistake because now they're just getting a bad reputation. Amazon shouldn't be in business if they're going to FALSE ADVERTISE. They lost me as a customer and I will pass the word around.
