This item went together easily and looks great. Real wood on all except back , but but it tacks together so well and , it is in back so not a huge issue.
My mom and I put this together in an hour and did'nt fight once so a big thumbs up! I would recommend a hand drill instead of a screw driver as the directions call for, but if you dont have a drill, a driver will work just fine.

Have never written a review about anything until now. I was very impressed with the ease at which this piece of furniture came together. The dowels and screw holes all lined up perfectly. All I needed was a phillips screwdriver. It is well designed. Kudos to the engineers on this piece. Took about an hour and blends in quite nicely in my Cape Cod cottage. The DVD player, Comcast cable box and surge protector all fit nicely in the middle and have filled the 4 shelves with books and DVDs. The hole in the back was smartly designed so wires could also go from top shelf to bottom shelf, i.e. the power cord from the cable box to the surge protector. I physically visited several furniture stores looking for the right piece with no luck. The prices in the stores were $100 to $200 more and many were not as good quality wise. For the price, this piece is hard to beat.

This unit took me less than an hour to assemble, and once I did it proved itself to be a very nice piece. It's sturdy and stable and fully capable of holding the 76 pounds of plasma TV I just bought. It has just enough storage for my needs without taking over the entire room. The instructions are so-so, but they got the job done. Caution: There are a LOT of little screws and parts, but each one does a specific job so make sure you keep them separated. You get a couple extra of some parts and none of others, so be careful not to lose any.
An excellent value. I'd buy it again if I needed 2.
