I bought this at gander mountain for 79.00 and saved the shipping cost. However after I purchased it the door spring latch immediately broke. I called the manufacturer and was told it had a know defect and they would ship me a repair kit. If you have a product that is defective and you know it you should not keep selling it without informing the public or fixing the issue, especially when it is something like the failure of the door latch that could cause safety issues with people and the animal. You have a responsibility to inform people who purchase this product that it is defective.

The kennel is nice, I just wish it had a sturdier door. It seems a little light weight, but not necessarily flimsy... I have a English Mastiff pup Max and he is crate trained, it works fine for in the house use. I can't imagine it would hold him in on the plane though, I'll keep ya posted.

I own two of these kennels. The first one I bought 4 years ago and it was (and is) a quality product. I recently purchased the same product, a 36" Remington kennel and discovered that although the brand, size and color were the same, the quality did NOT seem as good. Specifically, the spring-loaded latch mechanism does not work as designed as requires an aggravating "hand adjustment" each time it is latched. The plastic seems lighter and less sturdy than the previous version although it is sufficient to contain a very active 4 month old labrador retriever. Overall, I am disappointed that the product seems "flimsier" than the previously version and I am very unhappy that the latch does not work properly. When I have to travel with my dogs, I select the older of the two kennels because I worry that the new one won't hold up as it is moved back and forth from the vehicle to the house. Had I seen it in person (rather than ordering online) I would not have purchased it. I did not contact the seller to attempt to resolve the problem. Just having to do that would aggravate me even further, so I just limit the use of the kennel and remain dissatisfied

I got this for a german shepherd puppy. He's 4 months old now, and still has room to grow. The plastic is very easy to clean and disinfect, and unlike wire kennels, contains "accidents". The quality is as good as kennels costing $30 to $70 more. Amazon prime shipping makes the price even sweeter.

I bought this for my dog after she first managed to unzip her soft crate and then proceeded to chew through the side of it. A metal crate was out of the question as she was going to break her teeth trying to chew her way out of that one. The Remington crate arrived quickly and was easy to put together. The lock on the front gate seems sturdy. My only problem is that the dimensions for the width are at taken at the middle part of the crate, which is along the center panel. In other words, it is much narrower than I thought at the bottom. Now, admittedly, my dog doesn't seem to have a problem with this, but as a small Husky, she does not have the space to lie horizontally across the back as she liked to in the soft crate. She fits in well length-wise, but I thought it pertinent to note that the width measurement is not taken along the bottom of the crate, but that part just below the slats, where the crate bulges out slightly. Much narrower than I thought, but does not seem to bother the dog.

I ordered this item as yes, the price was good and I thought Remington, must be a decent product. I liked that it had air vents on bottom as well as top, also liked that it was dark on bottom light on top, thought color was nice.
The product took a long time to get here, longer than anticipated, with change in ship dates occuring three times. ordered from amazon thru the sportsmans guide who is someone I trust, however this item doesn't ship directly from them but an outside vendor so keep that in mind.
Product was packaged terrible with no packing foam, styrofoam or anything, taped shabbilly and boxes in bad condition.
Product seemed to fair okay. Put together and was disappointed right off the bat at the flimsiness of the plastic. My pet porter vari kennel is a much thicker sturdier plastic.

This is not a vari-kennel I would ever use to actually ship a dog, way too flimsy. At times it looks to almost topple over if my dog leans one way. Not the rugged kennel for a large dog as it says.
After two nights of use, one of the kennels developed a crack in the base starting at the bottom left hand of where door attaches. the crack goes along bottom curve/lip of bottom where it melds with side. Crack flexes and is sharp. again after two nights of use with a dog half the size of what the kennel is rated for.
Very very disappointed in the quality of this kennel!!!!
The door latch is a cheap quality also, again my pet porter, much better quality.
After waiting a month I am sorry I bought these. Now I have to try and get this cracked one replaced when quite frankly I just wish I had gotten a different brand now!!!

This crate is persfect for house breaking, it also allows my puppy Calvin, a shephard/terrier mix, comfort and security.
The price was great, since Calvin will not fit in it too much longer.
We're extremely satisfied, and the shipping time was awesome!!

Thought this crate would be a good one for my 30lb Boston Terrier. My biggest concern was the door, but that proved not to be the case. Within 4 hours of being in the 28-Inch L by 21-Inch W by 22-Inch H Crate, he had chewed through the side. While the crate was the correct size for him, the plastic was not sturdy enough to keep him from chewing it apart. I would not recommend this crate for a dog that is determined to get out of a crate.

I bought this crate because I was moving overseas and needed an airline approved crate to ship my Bassett Hound in. Although I paid $49.99 for it, this crate could be sold for double that. It arrived in about a week after I ordered it and came with everything needed to meet the USDA requirments for shipping live animals to include the live animal and directional arrows.

There were however two modifications that I had to make for the crate to be excepted by United Airlines. The first was that I had to drill four holes, one near each corner of the opening of the door, to allow the TSA to zip strip the door shut after their inspection. The second was that I had to replace the plastic retainer clips that hold the top and bottom halves together with a bolt/washer/nut stackup. I used 1/4 inch hardware with a lockwasher to accomplish this. Total cost of the hardware was around $15.00 from Home Depot. Both of these modifications are required if you plan to ship this crate aboard any major airline.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the crate for the price.

So, if you've done your research you know that you can spend upwards of $200 on a crate for a large dog. We were already spending a lot of money to build a dog house and kennel outdoors, so this crate fit our budget quite well. We have not been disappointed - we take the crate with us when we need to bring the puppy somewhere else for the day, and it is easy to take apart. Our little golden retriever puppy loves it!
