5.0 out of 5 stars Does work!
Having tried products with some slick advertising and literally burnt my fingers/split my skin etc., I was pleasantly surprised to see this one works. It went through the first thick branch a bit faster than I expected and I had to jump out of the way!

Only complaint - they could give a clearer picture of the chain mounting - the picture on the package is...

1.0 out of 5 stars GREAT !!! for the little time that it works
Avoid this product if you plan on using it for more than a couple hours. Remington went bankrupt and the new company doesn't honor their warranties. Also, the internal drive gears are plastic and will fail after a short period of time and can not be replaced. [...]

Only complaint - they could give a clearer picture of the chain mounting - the picture on the package is much better than the instructions.

Remember to tape your electric cord to the pole, else you will keep pulling it off the plug on the saw.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally-A tool that works as advertised!, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Remington RM0612P 6-Inch 6-Amp Branch Wizard Electric Pruning Pole Saw (Lawn & Patio)
Used the saw today for the first time. Excellent cut and handling. Ease of use is very nice and really has powerful cut for such a small saw. Worth twice the price. Early yet to see how it holds up. Very safe if the instructions are followed.Saw chain and bar is readily available from Home Centers such as Lowes and H Depot.

3.0 out of 5 stars Internal gear broke after only 4 hours of use, May 13, 2008

If you want something that lasts and is repairable, you should avoid this model.

I used it to trim oak and fir branches well within the size limitations it was supposed to handle. I even religiously stopped, let it cool down, adjusted the chain tension and oiled it frequently. Nonetheless, after about only 4 hours of use, the chain started 'slipping' as if some sort of clutch mechanism was not engaging. After contacting Remington, I was told the problem (a stripped gear) is internal and not repairable. Then the person clarified his statement saying it's less expensive to replace than repair it.

So, if you plan to do anything more than lightweight pruning, this product may disappoint you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has met all my needs, November 1, 2006

I was concerned about using the weight and the Remington Branch Wizard being top heavy. More concerned when I had to assemble it. The directions were easy to follow. Then fear set in about using an electrical appliance being a female, senior citizen. Results: I love the branch wizard. No need for a ladder, a saw with lots of effort, and a pruner with lots of effort. The cutting up of the cut branches was easy using the Black and Decker Alligator. I accomplished in 2 mornings what would have taken me 2 weeks without them. So far, no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remington Branch Wizard Better than expected, May 21, 2008

This arrives in a very big box just about all put together. The final stages of the assembly (connecting the bar and chain was a bit confusing) but once finished, I found the ergonomics of this comfortable and easy to maneuver.

We tried this out trimming some dead wood from tall, overgrown Hemlocks. I was impressed at the ease of use. In fact, once i got comfortable maneuvering around, it was so easy to use we cut more than we started out to. It feels powerful and has a good reach.

From reading through these reviews I didn't know what to expect, and this Branch Wizard worked much better than I expected. It does seem to be constructed geared towards occasional around the yard type of jobs and not built for heavy duty everyday use. But, like me, if light duty yard work is what you will be using this for, you should be pleased.

I bought this pole chain saw to keep my palm trees trimmed. This saw met almost all my expectations, it cuts well, its balanced for easy control and is simple to put together from their shipping configuation. I would have given it a five star rating if the pole would telescope.

This pole saw does the job for which it is intended. I was able to easily remove limbs without a great deal of climbing and repositioning ladders, etc. The pole saw is rugged, efficient, and meets all my performance expectations. It's a winner.

1.0 out of 5 stars My original Remington was much better., November 11, 2010

This review is from: Remington RM0612P 6-Inch 6-Amp Branch Wizard Electric Pruning Pole Saw (Lawn & Patio)
I had previously owned the Remington 8" pole saw and used it with good results. It got damaged in an ice storm last year. After looking at what was offered, I decided to try the lighter weight 6" saw as a replacement. The 6" version is like a toy compared to the larger one. There is no oil system, and I found it impossible to get the correct chain tension. Amazon made it easy to return, and promptly credited my account.

I then ordered a Poulan pole saw from Amazon that I am very happy with.

Item works very well. Is top heavy when fully extended.

Chain needs frequent tightening initially.
