Remington's Pearl CollectionCeramic: The Hair Straightener Essential
If you want to achieve salon-quality hair straightening from your own home, meet the Pearl Straightener. Ceramic has become the big buzz word in hair straightening--that's because ceramic improves heat distribution and helps the selected temperature remain even throughout the entire plate, so there are no hot spots.
Ceramic also creates an effortless glide with no snagging, flattening your hair cuticles for silky-smooth results. Plus, it ensures long-life plate wear, protecting the plates against styling products and scratching.
About Advanced Ceramic with Real Pearl
When it comes to ceramic straighteners, the bottom line is the more ceramic, the better. Standard ceramic hair straighteners are made with a single-layer sol-gel based ceramic coating with 70 to 80 percent ceramic content.
The Pearl Straightener features a dual-layer ceramic coating, which effectively doubles the amount of that all-important ceramic content and significantly improves the straightener's performance.
Tests have found that Advanced Ceramic with real pearl outperforms standard ceramic in many capacities. For one, it has 15 times more ceramic than other standard ceramic models, providing a high, even heat. It's also five times smoother than standard models, meaning the plates move through the hair more easily with less snagging. And because it's 85-percent harder and eight times more durable than standard models, it's more scratch-proof and lasts longer, so you can look forward to long-term use.
Fast to Heat Up and Slow to Lose Heat
Ideal for those on-the-go mornings, the Pearl Straightener is ready to use 15 seconds after switch-on. Throughout styling, it maintains a near-constant temperature and keeps heat loss to a minimum, thanks to its optimized electronics. It also helps you stay in control with precise temperature controls, an easy-to-read digital display, and temperature lock.
Selecting the heat level that's right for you is simple: just use the plus and minus buttons to adjust the temperature, then secure it with the temperature control lock.
Long, Wide Plates for Silky Strokes
Every component of the Pearl Straightener's plates makes it effortless to use. Their generous length and width means you can style more of your hair in one stroke, while their slim frame fits neatly in your hand without feeling bulky.
Safe, Easy Use with Auto Shut-off Function
If you've ever left the house and worried that you forgot to switch off your straightener, you can breathe a sigh of relief. The Pearl Straightener's auto shut-off function takes effect after 60 minutes. And when you've finished styling, it's easy to store away with its handy hinge-lock. For maneuverability, it boasts a long swivel cord.
The Pearl Straightener is backed by a four-year warranty.

My new go-to styler,
By
This review is from: Remington S9520 Salon Collection Ceramic Hair Straightener with Pearl Infused Wide Plates, 2 Inch (Misc.)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am a beauty junkie. I am not ashamed to admit to having the new MAC line release dates on my calendar and a dresser full of beauty tools. I have gone through dozens of flat irons, from $15 irons to $200 irons. From 1/2" irons to super wide irons. There is a distinct difference between a cheap iron and a pricey one, so I got this, I expected the type of iron that I have always gotten from $40 irons.
I was pleasantly surprised with the Remington Pearl Ceramic Ultimate Straightener. The pearl sounds gimmicky to me, but whatever Remington did with this styler works. For the record, I have very fine, very long, very damaged hair (from dyeing) that is naturally wavy. My usual problem with straighteners is that my hair tends to get tangled up and snags get flattened in the iron. I also have a very difficult time getting my hair to hold a straight style. I have very stubborn fly-aways. First things first, the straightener comes in pretty gray and pink packaging and is a lovely black and pink color. The tool itself feels sturdy and well made. It doesn't have the cheap plastic feel that many low-end irons have. It has three pink buttons placed on the side of the handle. These three buttons manage the power, the temperature, a temperature lock feature and turbo. The ceramic plates "float" meaning that they adjust independently from the handles of the iron to the changes in the thickness and location of your hair running through the iron. Pros: - The hair moves smoothly and quickly through the iron, no snags or pulls. Hair is smooth and frizz free. - My hair quickly straightened and held the shape. - When using the straightener to curl my hair, my hair held shape and the straightener created the most lovely natural looking waves. - The iron heats up quickly and allows for subtle variances in temperature. - The buttons need a firm push and are well placed so that there is no accidental button pushing. - A swivel cord allows for easy movement all around the head. Cons: - The digital display is only viewable from certain angles - viewed from some angles the display shows as on but can't be read. - The handle behind the ceramic plates get HOT. It was difficult to twirl the iron for curls without touching the heat. - The handle lock is a little stiff but it works well. The Remington Pearl works every bit as good as my high end irons. It curls or straightens hair easily and smoothly and is easy to use with its clean, straight forward design. I get smooth, natural looking waves or pin-straight hair with very little work, even when my hair is at its driest. I can even manage to look like I have healthy, shiny hair using this! This will absolutely be my new go-to iron for curls and straightening alike. I just wish I had discovered it before I spent $200 on those other irons.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I seem to be the lone dissenter here, but I don't care for this straightener overall.
Pros: *Inexpensive compared to many irons *Heats quickly and beeps when ready *You can choose your temperature *The wide plates Cons *I feel I have to press pretty hard to get the iron to clamp well *Although I have it on the same temperature as another iron I use, it just doesn't straighten as well. It leaves my hair still somewhat frizzy. I use a Tresseme iron which works very well for me. In fact, I used that iron to finish my hair after using the Remington iron on it. The Tresseme is just a bit more expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.

The 2" extra wide pearl ceramic plates make a big difference.,

The 2" extra wide plates make a big difference. It speeds up the work by needing less strokes. This is our 4th hair straightener. Even with the wider plates, it still glides very smooth with minimal effort. Maybe the real powdered pearls in the ceramics work.
The temperature is displayed clearly with a blue LED light. It is neat as there is no noticeable bump around the back of the iron for the display. It is housed inside the handle and you won't see the numbers unless it is plugged. Once the temperature desired is reached, a beep will alert you that it is ready to use. It also doesn't take a long time to heat up. It has 3 buttons on the side, one is to power up, the other two with a "+" and "_" symbols are to adjust the temperature setting. It can go as high as 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The cord attachment to the iron swivels which is necessary as well as practical, that way it is much easier to work around your head instead of wrestling with the cord. Works 120-240V to accommodate different voltages when you travel abroad. Autoshut-off. 4-yr limited warranty included.
