I got this for my pit bull boxer puppy, I tried to train me on it but it would shock him at random times. he could be sitting in the center of the yard chewing a bone and would jump up and run to the door, then some times he could walk past the wire boundary with out a beep or zap. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they said they fixed it, but i never did test it because the third set of batteries failed. In the 3 months i tried to use this product i replaced the batteries 3 times total hours used 3, because of the zapping issue.
do not buy this, it is a waste of money!

We purchased this unit, last summer, believing that our needs were well within its abilities. We had unbelievably bad luck testing its sensitivity, range, and tones. Our dog was "hit" several times, well away from the boundary. The final several times testing was done without assistance from Bruno. He would hide if he saw the collar, or even items that were the same color. When testing the sensitivity & range ourselves, there did not appear to be any rhyme or reason when it worked or didn't. This is a great product for torturing your pet. This was not our intention! The customer service personnel were also less than helpful in the dozens of calls, returned/repaired product, and months of testing. I have had bad products over the years, but this one we did everything we could to work it out, before throwing it away. This is the first review I have ever done that gives less than 3 stars. If I could give it a negative star rating, I would. This is disappointing since we partially decided to purchase this product due to the fact it is made in the USA!

I bought this with the understanding that it'll cover up to 15 acres. With only 1.5 acres, it shouldn't be a problem. I installed it, checked it and it said there were no line breaks. When I went to test the perimeter I got nothing. even touching the collar to the wire got no response. So as per the trouble shooting guide, I bought more wire and ran a jumper wire esentially cutting my yard in half. It worked when only doing .75 of an acre but barely (collar was 3-4 inches from exposed wire). I repeated the same with the other .75 acre with the same results. I have a great dane and it's rare that his head will be 3-4 inches from the wire. When i reconnected the two, again there was nothing. I've tried to contact customer service and left messages but they fail to return my repeated calls. Essentially, it needs more power. It might work if you were doing a 20 x 20ft square and owned a little dog like a yorkie or dashound.
