2.0 out of 5 stars NO! You can't do this to FLA songs and get away with it!, March 7, 2000

This review is from: Remix Wars Strike 2 (Audio CD)
GAH! Bought this one when it came out in 1996, as I buy every album with FLA on. Well, this is the worst of all my FLA album. Why, Die Krupps has made a mess of all of the FLA songs. Literally killed all that is FLA and warped it into something gruesome and horrible. I have never been able to listen through these songs. Yes they are that bad! The FLA mixes of Die Krupps are quite ok, therefore the 2 stars. Most stuff FLA mixes becomes great, but this time they must have been in a hurry. Oh Well. Spend your money on another CD. Why not Implode, if you do not have it :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent remix CD which ends in a trainwreck., July 9, 2011

For the most part, both the FLA and Die Krupps remixes are brilliant. Their styles pull a yin-yang with each other, causing the remixes to be more powerful than the originals.

While FLA stayed faithful to the original Die Krupps song structures, Die Krupps did all-out covers of the FLA songs while retaining original vocals.

Last Flood and Scent are made a bit clunkier by FLA with the addition of cleaner drums. As a result they are slightly more dance-friendly than the original and benefit from added synths and effects, though some of these effects could be construed as corny.

Metalmorphosis also closely resembles the original but with FLA's bells and whistles. Overall, it works out for the better especially when a squealing, wavering saw pad chaotically bounces around for the choruses.

Barcode is simplified but becomes more dance-friendly with its increased tempo and retains its power; the chorus is played almost like a breakdown, introducing a much-welcome change from the original Barcode's otherwise monotonous pace.

Neologic Spasm is of the same vein as the Barcode remix: Much faster, totally new synths, same vocals but much less processed. The chorus introduces a guitar groove and the song overall is given a fast, blurry, chaotic feel.

Transparent Species: ugh....

If you were to take some sharp keys or a marker and make track 6 unplayable, you would have one of the best industrial music compilations in existence.

To the musically-inclined: Die Krupps took Transparent Species (a song with a phrase-length of 8 beats) and overlaid the vocals onto a groove which is 7 beats long. It's a recipe for disaster and Transparent Species was no exception. Because of this the song falls apart the moment the vocals start. There is little change in the song for the chorus or bridge, it's just the same mess for two minutes and fifty-one seconds and you're left thinking "is this really bad or just over my head?" No, you're not that stupid.

5.0 out of 5 stars My golden moment., January 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Remix Wars Strike V.2 (Audio CD)
This was my first industrial band I have ever had. All it took was a few fans of mainstream music like Pitch shifter, Filter, Garbage, No D ought, Our-lady Piece, I Mother earth, Age of Electra, Merlin-Manson, NIN, Korn and Varucasalt. To convince me that My music sucks and that I know nothing about industrial music. Because of those types of fans I stupidly traded Strike Wars 2 in for money. For 17 years, I have never heard or owned anything but Korn and NIN. Intel I discovered Amazon.com. Now finally, I can catch up on old times with the music I really like. Music that I call Futuristic music, the same that I called it then.
