Colleen Wait began her writing career in elementary school. As a shy child she developed her vivid imagination writing short stories and telling her dolls and pets her dreams. She is an avid reader, especially the classics. She has been very involved in her church's youth activities including children's musicals where she stage managed, directed and even wrote a short play, Daughter's of the King, SonQuest and various other youth events including a local mission trip with her church's youth group. Colleen's son Devin, is in the Air Force, currently based in Texas. His photograph graces the cover of 'Mount Mission', which is loosely based on that mission trip. I was not sure if I would like this but hey, free is free! I was pleasantly surprised when I suddenly realized I was 35% through the book. This got me caught up in it right away and I was unable to put it down. When I first started reading it and discovered the main character was like only 13 or 14 I thought for sure I would not like it. But I found myself fascinated. So I read on and watched this girl become an adult. She learned how to survive even though there was no hope. She had faith when there seemed to be no point. This girl knew nothing about life, yet she learned to live. A very touching story! I am going to get my 14 year old daughter to read this. This story is about a young girl learning how to survive, to hope, to have faith in the unknown, to love, and to truly live!

While looking for interesting reads, I downloaded this book to my kindle. After reading the write-up I was afraid it would be a girls/teen book. Wow Was I Wrong! Excellent premise, great characters, excitement, adventure, suspense, and yes sadness but no spoilers. The main character goes on a quest to find anyone who may have survived a catastrophic event that has wiped the Earth clean. Along the way, she meets some others who have survived. This character grows up fast in this new world and you grow with her. Anyone in this position has to have faith and she does!

Remnants took me 2 evenings to read and I was sad that it ended! My daughter is now starting to read it. I anxiously await the next book. I will also be looking for other books from this author!

This is Colleen Wait's parallel book to "Sanctuary." Different characters, different part of the country but facing the same situation - the end of the world as we know it. In her previous book, the characters were in tune to God's leading. In this book, the reader can see the consequences of not following God's leading. It is very well written with a lot of twists and turns that keep you reading and wanting more!

The book was a little off and had a strong God presence in the end. It is defiantly a teen book, although I wouldn't teach my teen some of the ideas about men and women that are in the book.
