We bought this for our two year old music loving boy. He LOVES this drum. This is not a fake toy drum that sounds terrible and will break in a few months. Remo is a respected maker of amateur and professional drums for adults, so this is a real instrument. It sounds good and is very sturdy. And most of all, toddlers LOVE it.

This is the coolest drum I've seen. Soem that I've seen have a really cheap top that could easily be punctured...and they are over 20 bucks... this one is very thick and sturdy for only a bit more. I just can't believe how good the quality is. The sound the mallots make on it are incredible. I'm really pleased. I got it for my daughter's 2nd birthday (she LOVES drums) and she absolutely loves it, and it is something that will grow with her. Such great quality and an amazing price.

I am doing R.D.I. therapy with my autistic 5 year old and even though the paddle drums are recommended in R.D.I therapy sessions. I have found this drum to be just as rewarding and useful. It has a wonderful sound. My son loves playing it with me.

I bought an extra mallet at the same time as I bought the drum because there was only one pictured. It was not clear to me. The drum actually comes with two mallets so no need to buy an extra!

I got this drum for my son's 4th birthday. He was excited to get it. I don't mind the sound at all. It is not a loud annoying sound like some cheap toys are. We also had the large lollipop Remo drum already, which we all enjoy. I also have a 18 month old. There is a mallet for each of them and they both play on it at the same time. But, I put the mallets up when not in use because these mallets are wrapped and tied. Lollipop mallet is not wrapped. I highly recommend both drums. The large lollipop has a lower pitch than the floor tom. My husband and I also find it hard to resist playing on them. We plan to add to our collection of Remo kids drums. Also, it is great that they are made in the USA.

My little guy (13 mos.) can't get enough of this drum! Remo is an EXCELLENT brand and the fact that they have a line for children thrills me. It's made very well (I caught him standing on it the other day) and helps with hand/eye coordination.

Great product well constructed. My son who has autism loves this toy making it the perfect reward for therapy sessions.

Our boy loves music, and he loves to play the drum. As a just-turned-one-year-old, he also loves to climb and generally misuse things. This drum fits the bill on both fronts! The head and other parts are very sturdy, and the mallets are respectable. I will say that the head is a bit "ringy" out of the box, with a not great sound. However, if you tape a bit of gauze under the head (I put half of a standard gauze strip on either side of the head with some masking tape), the sound improves significantly.

This is a wonderful gift for a child. I purchased it for a one and half year old and he plays it a lot. It came with two mallets and if you purchase one be sure it has two mallets. I have taught drumming for over thirty years and the quality, size and sound are fine for a child.

Bought for four year old, used by older kids as well. This drum is very durable, it has taken quite a beating (no pun intended) and is in perfect shape still. It has an attractive look to it and a good sound as well. It's a quality instrument for children at a great price. Would definitely recommend if you are growing a collection of children's instruments for home or daycare, etc.

UPDATE: 2 years later and my son is still using it. It's held up perfectly despite the fact that he uses all kinds of things around the house as drum sticks (including his feet! Other parents have commented on it in a positive way, it's attractive and the patter on it is a little different than what you might find in a department store.
