The Remo Clear Pinstripe drum heads are made with two 7-mil Mylar plies and have a quick decay, making them ideal heads for the "fat" sounds of Pop, Rock and R&B and those who want a low pitched sound with moderate attack and response characterisitcs.   The Remo Coated Powerstroke 3 drum head features a thin underlay at the outer edge of the head to subtly dampen unwanted overtones. This creates a near-perfect balance of response and tone control that has made the Powerstroke 3 one of Remo's most preferred drum heads.

Sweet. Remo is second to none when it comes to drumheads - that's the first thing you need to know. From the Kevlar WhiteMax to the oil-filled pinstripes you can always find something in your size, tone, and price range. This is one of my favorite sets when paired with tone rings, and then I tune them until I can get a nice soft yet punchy attack, with a beautiful warm decay (I'll tune down my bottom head to heighten the effect). Very versatile when covering multiple genres. Now, on to the coated snare head.

I personally love the simplicity of a coated Powerstroke-3. I love how they are built to minimize overtones, and I find them very responsive at all stick heights. Most likely what your school snares have on them, though the coating has long since been beaten off from years of use. I wonder if anyone has thought to use Amazon reviews as a blog - aside from me thinking about it right now...

These Toms sound great, they tune great and they are of excellent quality and very durable. The Snare however isnt the greatest Remo snare drum i have tried. If could do this order over (and i will have that chance in the near future) i would pick these heads for my toms, and pick a different head for the snare drum seperatly.
