5.0 out of 5 stars really good!@
best practice pad I've ever used. The feel on it is great when sticking. The rim is actual height to practice rim shots, and you can mount it to a stand. There's no pad that I've felt that lets you practice more easily than an actual drum.

2.0 out of 5 stars There are better options, but this is an OK pad
Its funny that, as I write this, there are 2 5-star reviews and 1 1-star. I don't think its as good as the 5-star reviews let on nor as bad as the 1-star. Yes, it is loud -- louder than the Firth and other pads that are wood or composite bases with a rubber pad on them -- those have little or no sound, unless they have BBs or other objects designed to mimic a snare sound...

Its funny that, as I write this, there are 2 5-star reviews and 1 1-star. I don't think its as good as the 5-star reviews let on nor as bad as the 1-star. Yes, it is loud -- louder than the Firth and other pads that are wood or composite bases with a rubber pad on them -- those have little or no sound, unless they have BBs or other objects designed to mimic a snare sound like the Pro-mark X-pad. On the other hand, this pad is about the same or a little quieter than the Firth stock pad and slimpad -- ones designed to mimic the feel of a marching snare.

I own several pads, including this one. This Remo pad is the one I don't use. This would be a better pad if it were still built as it was in the '70s -- more or less the top of a snare drum with padding under the head. The older ones had metal rather than plastic rims and was tunable with drum keys rather than a screwdriver. If you can find a cheap one used, get it. Its size and light weight are a big plus. Throw it in a backpack with some sticks and you can practice on the road. But make sure you are all by yourself or in another part of the house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Practice Pads, November 18, 2008
This review is from: Remo Practice Pad, 10-inch Diameter, Gray, Coated Head (Electronics)
My son's Music teacher had requested for practice pad, after showing the copy of this Remo and several other pads she preffered this one, it's really excellent, it's cool, as if it practising on Drum without any nuisance of loud sound, I would suggest to go for this pad for some one who is starter.

Nice feel, very much like a real head on a real drum, using it for "Stick Control" workouts, even tuneable. Great!

this item is perfect for my 11 year to practice the snare drum at home. we are not yet ready to invest in a drum, he needs to practice and this works. one major perk, it is not as loud as a snare would be. Definitely suggest the 10" over the 8", it is more realistic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great feel, great feedback., October 30, 2011
This review is from: Remo Practice Pad, 10-inch Diameter, Gray, Coated Head (Electronics)
This pad has a fantastic feel to it; it feels the most like an actual drum because there is an actual drum head on it. You could change out the drum head for whatever head you actually play with (provided it comes in 10" size). It is louder than other practice pads but it is certainly not nearly as loud as an actual drum and is definitely soft enough to practice by yourself in a room. Might be too loud to practice in a room full of people, though...

This is great to practice on. Not as loud as your drum, but still gives some sound instead of a rubber type practice pad. Well made. I still have my orig from the 70s bought this as a gift.
