Best Production Djembe Drum Made.,
By WaterRabbit "CapeCodMediaKing" (Cape Cod, MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Remo 25" x 14" Tunable Djembe, Kinte Kloth Design (Electronics)
I bought this exact Remo 14" Djembe drum used from my local drum shop. The finish on mine is also the same as photo " Kinte Kloth " and that was the feature that got me to buy it, the first time I saw it. The pattern gives it a really cool West African look, as I understand it each tribe uses a different pattern and combination of colors, like how the clans in Scotland each use a different Tartan. The sound is awesome, no weird buzzing or rattles, it is " tight as a drum " ! I am still very much a beginner even after a year, proper technique really takes some work and it is very easy to think that the Djembe is a simple instrument but to master it is no joke.
Another cool thing about it is that the weather won't affect it like one made from wood and goat skin. Tuning is easy, after a while many things can cause the drum head to get loose, just add small turns on the adjusters, going from one side to the other, a little bit at a time till it sounds and feels snappy and alive. The head is made from a product that really looks and feels like real goat skin, without all the ropes to loosen and tighten all the time. In defense of the wooden/goat skin Djembes, if you have the money and can deal with the inconsistencies and tuning, if it was made by a good craftsmen, then a bigger, better sound cannot be found any where else, wood is the best sound. But for anything other than studio recording or playing professionally, the Remo Djembe is more drum than anyone should need for jamming, drum circles, home use, etc., Check one out and you will be happy ! Good Luck and Practice, Practice, Practice !!! WaterRabbit aka Joseph W., Cape Cod, MA, USA

The Remo Djembe is fabulous. But be careful of using West Music. I expected (and paid for) two day delivery. Well they mean two days after they get around to processing your order, not that they will deliver it in two days. It's been 5 days now, and it still hasn't been sent out.
