Book Description

Richard Snyder Publication February 1, 2006
Poetry. "There is a fine exactness as well as a beautiful contemplative quality that informs her poems. This is work with depth to it yet she has a delightful sense of the absurd which sometimes sparks through the serious themes she addresses. She is endowed with insight and compassion. Hers is writing that clearly shows a responsible concern for the life of this world"--Ruth Stone. Christine Gelineau's REMORSELESS LOYALTY won the 2004 Snyder Publication Prize from the Ashland Poetry Press.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gracefully offering its readers a lyrical investigation into the literary complexities of Gelineau's work, May 8, 2006
This review is from: Remorseless Loyalty (Richard Snyder Publication) (Paperback)
Remorseless Loyalty is an eclectic collection of creative and innovative poetry from the work of Christine Gelineau (winner of the 2004 Richard Snyder Publication Prize, and Assistant Director of the Creative Writing Program at SUNY Binghamton). Gracefully offering its readers a lyrical investigation into the literary complexities of Gelineau's work, Remorseless Loyalty is a superbly presented anthology of poetic rhetoric. Spring Again: Spring again//that old chicanery/of sun-finished flowers//The meadows/are tricked out/in sudden green,//the rivers gulping,/tearing to the sea//We are so eager to believe/the sleight-of-hand/the magic cotton-tailed trees//Smoke-white blossoms/cloud the air yet/beneath//our feet the earth maintains her old sure suck.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2006 Nominee for Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Poetry, July 30, 2006
This review is from: Remorseless Loyalty (Richard Snyder Publication) (Paperback)
Remorseless Loyalty is a 2006 nominee for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Poetry. There were only 125 nominees for the prize in the country last year. Poets of any nationality, at any level in their writing careers, are eligible for nomination, as long as they have had U.S. publication of a book during that calendar year. This is a beautiful first book by a poet who is already gaining critical attention from a renowned panel of poets. See the Los Angeles Times Book Prize web site. Whether or not Remorseless Loyalty wins the Los Angeles Times Prize, this book deserves the attention of any serious reader or critic of poetry. Take a look: you won't regret it!
