If the spirit of a loving wife can t nudge her husband in the right direction, who can?

So thinks thirty-something Judith McBride, a Jewish control freak with an unlikely last name. When Judith dies in a medical mishap, she calls on her supernatural status to "rescue" her widowed spouse from the gold-digging clutches of their sexy, thrill-seeking blonde accountant. But interfering with earthly events is strictly verboten, and the repercussions ripple outward, affecting not only Judith but the lives of her husband and best friend.

Judith s journey from the physical to the spiritual world is peppered with adjustments, choices, and self-discovery, ultimately leading her to the realization that loving sometimes means learning how to let go.

About the Author

Cynthia Polansky has been writing creatively since she was old enough to put pencil to paper. A friend s casual remark about her skillful writing prompted Cynthia to take a creative writing class, where she learned the basics of fiction writing and acquired confidence in her ability. Four years later, her first novel, Far Above Rubies, was published. Polansky (writing as Cynthia P. Gallagher) also dabbles in nonfiction. The dog-related articles comprising her writing resumé attested to her love of man's best friend and led her to write several dog breed books and earn membership in the Dog Writers Association of America.

A Boston native, Cynthia Polansky earned her B.A. degree in Russian from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After a few detours from the nation s capital to Milwaukee and Memphis, she now lives in Annapolis, Maryland with her husband, a retired Fedex pilot. When not writing, she enjoys knitting, crossword puzzles, and volunteering at the local animal shelter. She is also a part-time tutor for the Writing Center at the U.S. Naval Academy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remote Control is a funny ,spirited adventure that looks at love in the afterlife, February 27, 2008
This review is from: Remote Control (Paperback)
Remote Control is a spirited adventure told through the eyes of Judith McBride, a would be angel in heaven with an eye for meddling in the lives of those she loves the most on earth. Judith dies untimely from a certain embarrassing blockage of her own plumbing, which sets the humorous tone of this novel.

Judith is a rebel marked by a disdain for rules and authority which upsets the spirit hierarchy in heaven. They have particular rules for how a soul is supposed to live in pursuit of spiritual growth. Judith ignores their warnings and is intent on being the guardian angel for her husband, Saul. No matter what the spirit guides say she wants to save him from the maneuvering of a blonde bombshell named, ML. Through nail biting romps Judith visits their love nest, her former home and watches as Saul gets rid of their dogs; the first sign of his quote un quote new life. With a voyeuristic horror and fascination Judith watches as her mild mannered husband transforms into a stud. Over time his love making with ML takes him to jaunts all over the world, spending their money and putting him in danger as a bungee jumping trip looms on the horizon. With mounting worry Judith schemes to disrupt ML's plans, her spend fast ways and save Saul once and for all. Along the way she interferes with destiny causing a rippling effect and risking others souls' growth, not just her own. Through it all Judith maintains her sharp wit as a rebel angel with a soul to save, but in the long run it's her own soul that she saves the most.

Remote Control is a great read ... Polansky knows how to create catchy dialogue and develop quirky, three-dimensional characters. I like the "heavenly" parallel universe in this palatable new-age romp. Remote Control is an intelligent, fun-to-read and funny page-turner. Well done!

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended Fun Read, August 21, 2008
This review is from: Remote Control (Paperback)
Did you ever wonder what happens after you kick the bucket? Cynthia Polanksy's novel, Remote Control, tackles this baffling topic. From astral planes to reincarnations to Earth visits, Remote Control takes readers on an amusing spiritual journey.

Thirty-one year old, Judith McBride, drops dead following a freak medical mishap. After hovering over her own funeral, she connects with Ashraf, a spiritual guide, and enters an after life, which consists of a series of levels achievable based on her spiritual growth. The higher the level, the more heaven like the experience. Ashraf cautions her to stay away from Earth; but control freak Judith ignores his warnings after witnessing Saul, her widower, falling for their beautiful and deceitful accountant. As Judith begins ghostly intervention, mayhem ensues and Judith learns costly lessons about messing with fate.

Remote Control is a unique, enjoyable and thought provoking novel. This book will stick in your skull even after you flip the last page.
