This is one of the upcoming bands in the LA scene right now. They are justfinishing up a residency at Spaceland. People have been talking. But the EP is here. StarTime is known for its New York bands like The Walkmen and French Kicks. But they started to expand their empire. Dios Malos was the first LA band. Now we have Foreign Born. Initially they remind me of The Pleased. Especially on songs like "Exactly On The Verge." Some jangley guitars and some 1980s synths are featured on a few tracks. "We Had Pleasure" is a memorable song. It contains hope and the spirit of summer. "It Grew On You" reminds me of John Lennon. This is a fairly good start. I can't stop listening to it.

Saw these guys on tour with Grizzly Bear. They held their own. Pretty mellow... yeah kinda shoegazey in an interpol meets the strokes sort of way - but with more pretty noises (i.e. cymbalicious). Oh just see the title. Definitely worth your nephew's allowance money.

"Entryway" the 1st trak on this E.P. sounds just like a Psychadelic Furs track from the 80's - lots of swirly guitars - in a shoegazy kinda way. Highly recommended.
