5.0 out of 5 stars Dave you do it again, October 8, 2009

This review is from: Renaissance: the Masters Series Part 14-Dave Seaman (Audio CD)
Dave Seaman has been putting out quality mixes for 15 years and this is no exception. His track selection to his mixing and programming is always top notch. This installment of the Master Series (like all the others) is a wonderful sonic journey that will take you to another place.

Disc one is more of a head phone mix that will take you on a ride through lush melodies and deep euphoric sound scapes that send shivers down your spine. From the openning track of Four Tet - Swimmer the mix snakes its way through an array great tune like Butch Feat. Julie - Soultan, to Will Saul & Tam Cooper - Through The Smoke, and my favorite Spooky - Outernebula to finish on Jon Hopkins - Light Through The Veins (Ewan Pearson's Downtown Lights Remix) [Seaman's Intravenous Remodel] witch Dave re-worked to perfection. This was the disc I enjoyed the most.

As for the second cd its more of what you would hear Mr. Seaman play live, with its sharp beats and thick bass lines its a perfect album to get your night started. Some of the highlights on this disc were the Erphun remix of Dave Seaman's Gobbledygook, Jay Lumen - Morning Call, and Gregor Tresher - The Life Wire.

Renaissance and Dave Seaman do it again and Im glad they did, since this may be his last mixed album ever (he said on his site) I strongly suggest you pick this up it could become a classic.

If you a keen fan of Dave Seamans work so far, you sometimes wonder how he manages to stay so ontop of his game. This complilation shows just how good he still is. Track selection as per usual is surprising and brillant, melded together with absolute finesse. You can't really pin down Dave's style or pigeon hole him to a genre, lets just aggree it's witch-craft for you're musical soul.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dave Seaman in action, February 23, 2011

10 years later from Dave's seminal Reinessance: Awakening compilation and I am feelin' good having another one of his excellent cd's.

Undoubtly, Dave is a master dj compiling excellent sets, and having the uncanny ability to move your body in the bopping progressive rhythm. For someone who is just getting to know his work this is probably perfect, but I couldn't help to notice that the times have changed and a certain melodic wave that used to be an integral part of his music is not really there. Indeed, this is not trance of the Awakening, but rather a more progressively-toned Reinessance set. Dave is more somber here, with the notes of contemplation revealing a more mature man. Yet, there are some really nice tasty moments here - particularly in the later part of the 1st and the earlier part of the 2nd cd's. The cover art is magnificent really, and stands out in comparison to GU's "profiles" which don't usually say a lot except that the guy on the picture had a rough year.
