Young Tebaldi Shines!, February 22, 2000

This CD, consisting of a live 30 minute televison/radio concert, is truly incredible. Released as an honor to Mme. Tebaldi, on her 75th birthday, it is one of MYTO's greatest releases, PERIOD. It consists of many arias, all with orchestra, which, as all Tebaldi lovers know, are all too rare to find. Especially wonderful is the early magnificence of Tebaldi's voice, particularly on the WALLY aria, as well as ALL the others. For the remainder of the CD, there is a highlighted performance of TOSCA, 1953, with Bergonzi. To my knowledge, the only recording of this with the great tenor. It is devastating in it's power and strenth, and is worth buying for just this! Her incredible stage presence and acting, are all on display here, for everyone to hear, despite those who say Tebaldi could only "act" in her later years. We have far too many recordings which dispute this supposed "fact." This CD is worth every cent, and I guarantee you will listen with baited breath to every phrase within. Truly a masterpiece, and an incredible tribute to TEBALDI. A MORE than 5 STAR performance awaits you! As an incredible plus, the sound on this recording is FAR above par, leaving you breathless with the beauty of Tebaldi, in the full flush of youth.
