Ok..ok...wow! Just picked this up and what can i say about this artist LornaLee....sultry, elegant and just chilled lounge music sung in french. From the first song to the last song this record flows smoothly. If anyone is a fan of Sade, Bebel Gilberto and Les Nubiannes as the sticker reads..you will find this top notch record up there with those artists.I think LornaLee will be a big hit in the urban crossover electronica market!

Someone alluded to a French Sade comparison and it is right on. Get your love on with this cd and your sweet thang. I heard her on an Om Lounge compilation and decided to try the cds and I am glad I did. Not one bad track on the whole cd. I have over 300 cd and I know bad music when I hear it as I have slipped up a few times, but get this and you will not be sorry!Jeff Atl.

Everyone once in awhile a record slips through the cracks of the mass radio world and then is found sometime later only to be reborn. One such record is rendezvous by the artist LornaLee. An amazing debut by some of the coziest vocals, smooth enticing production work and overall great musicianship. The sticker reads pretty much correct by drawing comparisons to bebel gilberto and les nubianes. A fantastic driving cd, late night chill cd or overall feel good cd.If you are looking for some new music that just makes you enjoy life do yourself a favor and pick up Lornalee's rendezvous.

Fans of the music from the last few episodes of Sex and the City will enjoy this one. Tracks go between French and English, but it makes no difference to me. After hearing this album no less than four times a day at work, I have to admit I want to hear it a fifth time.

For any people out there that are jaded with todays commercial music heard on the radio...please don't turn away from artists like this!I first heard LornaLee on the radio waves of KCRW when she appeared on the compilation French Kiss. Her voice just penetrated my being and gave me the goosebumps. I was excited when i heard her new cd playing instore at Barnes & Noble this month. The record flows from track to track with such ease and momentum sharing this urban funky electronica sound fused with french cafe world elements. As i said before, pick this up..give it a listen i can guarantee you will not be disappointed by the content of this record.

If you like french music, if you are a romantic, if you are in love & even if you are not, you will totally enjoy this CD. It's fresh & inspiring but relaxing & joyous. I cannot stop listening to it. Whether you are cruising down a highway or cozied up at home, this is the ONE! Several songs are in English so as not to exclude us english speaking people. It's jazzy, trippy & fab!! I highly recommend this.

LornaLee...I don't speak French, and it is quite interesting listening to this enchanting woman singing words that I have absolutely no comprehension of. She could be saying anything...maybe someday I will want to know. This music is very pleasing and calming without being a downer at all. The rhythms are varied and irresistible. There are three songs in English, "At Last", "Can't Get Over You", and "Get Up Get Started". Not a single dud on this album, this is truly good music. The feeling of this album is upbeat, but it is peaceful at the same time. The mix of French and English is very nice. The band behind is excellent, and LornaLee's voice is nothing short of enchanting. I find it easy to get things done while I listen to this and other similar artists like Isabella Antena. Since they are singing in another language it doesn't distract me, and the music is sublime.

Jazz with a French Twist,
By
This review is from: Rendezvous (Audio CD)
Lorna Lee presents us with her first album, a work filled with romantic interludes in a jazzy electronica genre. Her voice is silky, expressive and the style has a French Cafe or nightclub feel to it. The lyrics are mostly in French, with a few tracks being in English. The songs are about romance, love songs of lost love, jealousy, and desire. The music is all about the vocals, backed with a steady beat and keyboard electronica backfill. But without good compositions the voice would be lost. Most of the tracks are written by Dorian Wright and a couple are co-authored with Andrew Patch. The lyrics appear to be written mostly by Lorna Lee herself. The production quality is excellent and again, due to Dorian Wright. So we have quality production, well chosen musical compositions and it all leads to a perfect platform for Ms. Lee's enticing vocals. Outstanding tracks were hard to pick from all the excellent presentations. If I have to choose, the opening track "Es-Tu Sincere?" is a winner, presenting us with an overview of the entire CD. The melody is memorable, the beat moves you to move and Ms. Lee's voice soars through the entire performance. A very romantic piece. "Can't Get Over You" could be from a Film Noir; a smoky bar and our hero is eating out his heart over the lovely cafe singer who he feels sings only for him, yet all but ignores him. A brilliant piece. If you enjoy jazz with a French Twist, and silky, sultry vocals, this is an excellent addition to your late night listening. Sit back with a cup of coffee on your balcony or settle into your favorite late night bar with a glass of your favorite and this CD. maf |
