2.0 out of 5 stars Ok...
Same as any smooth jazz radio station. Not Lounge music. IIf you want Lounge get Buddha Bar or Hotel Costes. Those are exellent World cafe soundsin compilations. This cd is smooth nothing. Not what i expected and was a little dated sounding.

5.0 out of 5 stars MY SECRET RENDEZVOUS!, March 9, 2004
This review is from: Rendezvous Lounge compiled by Mark Gorbulew (Audio CD)
If you're looking for an album that will truly take you away from it all, this is this one!!! I picked up "Rendezvous Lounge" yesterday after being very disgusted with "St. Moritz Vibes Volume 2." And might I say that "Rendezvous Lounge" is the coolest, most sophisticated and original compilation albums I have heard in a looong while. Chalked full of rare grooves from the likes of Alchemx, Redfish, Praful, Black Might Orchestra, Mark Gorbulew (mixer of the "Le Groove Electique" series)and a host of others, this baby is just what you'll need for that bougie dinner party, or that night of romance with yo' significant other, or for personal introspective thinking. Mixer Gorbulew has done a masterful job of compiling songs that go well together, each with landscapes of intricately layered rhythms--no hallucinogenic sirens here...just excellent music with the right mix of jazz, funky basslines, atmospherics, low BPM house and even the blues. If you buy any comp CD this year or ever, make it this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Close Your Eyes. Let The Music Take You Away...and it will, October 1, 2004

This album definitely caters to listeners of down-tempo, electronic music. It is really a great CD. It's great for entertaining or when you and your closest friends are simply lounging around. Some of my colleagues, to whom I have introduced this music, even find that it's great for studying or reading. I certainly agree. Not only will this CD bring you to a place of complete relaxation after a hard day at work or school, it's smooth, consitent beat will take you away to another place.

I think, though, that this CD falls into the category of Fusion, rather than pure electronic jazz. It's very similar to what one would hear on a typical "love" or "romance" music station in any large, urban market, but without a lot of the saxophonic solos, the sultry disckjockeys and annoying commerical advertisements interrupting the sequence or flow.

I freeked when I got Afterlife 'Spec of Gold', then I was buying Playstic Budda's 'Throwing Stones in a Placid Pool'(who I found on Ambient Lounge 3) when Rendezvous popped up around the shopping cart page.. so I took a gamble and now can't get enough of this cd. it delivers song after song.. this Mark guy knows how to pick them. I'll look into his other stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Chill Out collection, March 17, 2004

This is one of the most wonderful compillation of chill out music (arranged by Mark Gorbelew) I have encountered. Every track leads smoothly into the next with flow and sensuality.
The music "takes you away" to another universe.
It is magical and inspirational, transcending and spacious.
Congratulations for a great album!

Dorit

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Cd Even For a Lounge Novice, November 14, 2004
This review is from: Rendezvous Lounge compiled by Mark Gorbulew (Audio CD)
More like fusion crossed with realy good smooth jazz. I personaly don't normally go for "electronic" forms of music, but I must say this cd has remained in my car stereo since the day I bought it. It helps get me through the traffic jams of rush hour minus the road rage I'm prone to experience. This is NOT Kenny G and it's NOT some wierd blend of sound effects set to a repetitious beat. This IS good soothing rhythmic music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth ride.., March 16, 2004

Another outstanding selection from a chill expert. Mark Gorbuleuw has the touch when it comes to compiling great music from across the globe.Rendezvous Lounge disappears the trials and tribulations of my life with a soothing blend of musical stylings that's peppered with a splash of downtempo beat and groove. What I love is that here isn't one throwaway track on this collection. It's a smooth ride from beginning to end. I also admire the import flava and the domestic pricing!
This one's a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album!, October 8, 2005

I absolutely love this album... It was brought to my attention by Amazon when I bought another album and after reading some reviews I decided to try it. I knew once the first track started to play that I had made a good choice... My wife and I lit the candles, opened the wine and the night was set... This is a great album from start to finish...

Agree with the few reviews I read.
I wore this CD out the first summer we had it. Played it every night out on our patio with candles going, good friends and a good bottle of wine. When I need my nerves settled this is the CD.
Love the first cut with Robert Johnson vocals---hits a grand slam.
