Product Description

Based on FASA's popular Renegade Legion: Interceptor game system, Renegade is the story of starfighter-to-starfighter conflict in the 67th century. And like Wing Commander, X-Wing, and others of the genre, the extraordinary skill of an individual pilot determines the outcome of a galactic war. You are responsible for recruiting and leading a squadron of wingmen to control the throttles of eight sleek ships. Pilot skill levels, from rookie to veteran, determine the complexity of the game's play. Your leadership ability determines the outcome. Super-VGA graphics, sound effects, and music augment the drama brought to life by the developer that created TSR's Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

4.0 out of 5 stars slaying "evil" enemies via starfighter dogfights while listening to techno wiz tunes, it's the 90's! What more could you want???, October 9, 2009

This review is from: Renegade: Battle for Jacob's Star (CD-ROM)
A competor to the wingcommander III game in the 90s(according to the store sales rep I spoke with at the now defunct "Babbages") Where as wC3 had a huge footprint to your PC req(and if you think i refer to now, your an idiot!) this game was more in tune with most poeple's PC's of that time. E.A games always seem to push the req to hard and if you were a rich boy/gal(at the time) you could barely find a PC capable of wc3. The laser sounds/graphics are flashier and have more punch in this game "Renagade" than the feeble muted wingcommander cannon sounds. Also the graphics are brighter and better, if you were a 70's kid and liked "buck rogers" or "Battlestar"(the old not the suck ridden lasers of the "new" one) you'll love this! It's just like that! The "CD" or should i say CD-"ROM" is a record to some extent with a few voice overs and some basic prog files to load on your HD and the rest is a big record like some 90's tech with a few bits of played dialouge added to what is interactive to what is loaded on your HD. at the time HD space wasn't infinitly enourmous and CD's had to find ways to take off that load. you had like, maybe 120 MEGA bytes and a ROM drive(if you were rich-AND pretty enough for the sales girls to like you and show you how they worked) I was in those days now i'm old and ugly like Rod Seiger or Randy Quaid(lol!)
