Book Description

June 16, 2009 The Lost Books (Book 3)

One of the chosen has gone renegade.

Turning his back on all that he once believed, Billos does the forbidden and enters into a Book of History. He lands in a reality as foreign to him as water is to oil-a place called Paradise, Colorado. He has strange new powers given to him courtesy of a mysterious figure known as Marsuvees Black.

The chosen four have survived the desert, escaped the Black Forest, battled the Horde, and added a spirited refugee to their number. But nothing has prepared them for the showdown that Billos, the renegade, is luring them into.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 9 Up–Young warrior Billos is sucked from his &swords-and-sorcery& world into an alternate reality–ours. Tempted by the evil Marsuvees Black to hunt for books of powerful magic, he accepts and begins heartlessly attacking the small town of Paradise, CO, with his newly granted superpowers. Meanwhile, his lover, Darsal, and her friends make a deal with the monstrous Alucard in order to rescue him, but when they arrive in our world, they find that the now-cruel Billos is convinced that they should join him in his quest for power. Complexly plotted, this work seems to require knowledge of the YA novel series it is derived from; for new readers, it can be bit of a challenge to understand some of the story line. Although this book has some light Christian themes, the overall tone is not evangelical. It may be best for libraries that have a strong demand for Dekker&'s work or for Christian-themed works in general; for general collections, it is best as a supplemental purchase.–Dave Inabnitt, Brooklyn Public Library, NY

From Booklist

The time-travel adventure of the Lost Books graphic-novel series continues, involving a black-and-white battle between forces of good and evil—with some scary (black) and cute (light gray) creatures mixing with the humans. The Christian overtones here are specific and blunt, what with looking for the “Books” and some direct biblical quotation. High coloring and excellent action shots will keep middle-school readers moving along as hero Billos veers from his medieval village into a mechanical spaceship future and then into mid-twentieth-century hick-town life. Damsel Darsal is close behind, but so is the man in black. Grades 7-9. --Francisca Goldsmith

Hi Amy, thanks for your question. I've passed it along to my publisher. Right now, all publishers are experimenting with ebook pricing and promotions. It's still very new so everyone is learning together. This kind of feedback is exactly what they need to decide how often to do specials and for how long. You'll start seeing more of my books being offered as ebook specials. I promise.

This book series is AWESOME!I read the non-graphic novel first and it was kinda creepy, but this isn't I would say that any 10-15 year old should enjoy this. These books are like Narnia in some ways as Elyon is like God like Aslan is in Narnia, but I like these books better because there alot more modern type stuff, and really action packed! This graphic novel deserves a FIVE STAR!

Renegade is the beginning of the better artwork in the Lost Books graphic novels.

If you found the books a little confusing, these graphic novels will clear the air.

These things are great for any Dekker fan!
