Good Story...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Renegade Heart (More Men Of Mystery) (Intrigue, 578) (Paperback)
...but I can't say I loved it. I didn't feel like they knew each other enough for their lust to turn into love. It really bothered me when they finally did "make love" too. I don't think they could have picked a worse time or a worse place! Other than that it was a good story though. I enjoyed reading about Maggie and Drew.

ANOTHER GREAT READ FROM GAYLE WILSON,

Gayle Wilson's books are habit forming. Her stories are facinating, her writing skill unique. There are storytellers and there are writers. For the fortunate reader this talented, multi-award winning author is that rare and wonderful combination of both.RENEGADE HEART is, indeed, Gayle Wilson at her best. Now comes the long wait for her next Intrigue. BJ

The best in the series!,

I've loved all the Men of Mystery books, but I think this one is the best. I loved the two characters, Drew and Maggie, and I liked the romance developing as they worked together to solve the mystery. There wasn't a single minute when I wasn't on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This was a real page turner! I can't wait for the next installment.

Gayle Wilson's Men of Mystery meet "The Fugitive" in "Renegade Heart." When a prison bus accident allows him to escape, former CIA agent Drew Evans sets out to find the man whose perjured testimony put him behind bars. But the man is dead and his widow is shocked by Drew's claims. Maggie Cannon understands too well why her husband would agree to lie on the stand and agrees to help Drew prove his innocence. Is it because she feels she owes him, or because of the attraction she feels for this dangerous man?"Renegade Heart" is a book packed with compelling scenes and emotional moments, told in Wilson's unique style. The author keeps the reader nicely off balance. Just when we think we know where a section is going, there is an unexpected twist. This makes for a satisfyingly suspenseful atmosphere that will keep readers on their toes, while the sparks between the main characters will draw them in. The book is being sold on the basis of its "mysterious" hero. For me, its strongest part was really the heroine. Unlike the heroine of the last Men of Mystery book, "Her Private Bodyguard," Maggie was someone I sympathized with and admired. Like the best Intrigue heroines, she's not superwoman, but an ordinary one who shows how strong she is when faced with extraordinary circumstances. I liked how it was Maggie who turns detective and actually does some investigating. Drew might be the former CIA agent, but it felt like Maggie was his perfect equal, the way it should be. She was the kind of woman I could identify with and imagine what I would do in the same circumstances. Both of the characters had hard pasts but never became too self-pitying, even though Drew probably had good reason. For two strong, dynamic characters who you can actually root for while they face down danger and fall in love, "Renegade Heart" can't be beat. I'm not crazy about the title, since Drew never gets a chance to show he's much of a renegade ("Fugitive Heart" would be more appropriate, but that Intrigue title's already been taken.). Under any title, strong character development, intense scenes, and some big surprises along the way make this a book Wilson's fans won't want to miss.

No wonder this author is a Rita winner! RENEGADE HEART had me shooing away the family so I could keep reading. Packed full of suspense, romance, a to-die-for hero, and a down-to-earth heroine, this story has it all. Drew and Maggie's story is a keeper shelf one for this reader.

Award winning author does it again!,
This review is from: Renegade Heart (More Men Of Mystery) (Intrigue, 578) (Paperback)
Renegade Heart is yet another emotion-stirring, compelling read by author Gayle Wilson. She's never let me down before and she sure didn't this time. No wonder this author has won so many awards, including her industry's highest honor, the RITA.

#5 IN THE MORE MEN OF MYSTERY - EXCELLENT,

This review is from: Renegade Heart (More Men Of Mystery) (Intrigue, 578) (Paperback)
What a way to run into a character -- Ex-CIA agent Drew Evans has excaped the prison van that he was on.
Kinda reminds of you of THE FUGITIVE - excellent format. Drew Evans or "Martin Holcomb" needs to find Tommy Cannon in order to clear his name. When he finally makes it across state to Cannon's cabin in the mountains he stakes out the property only to be taken in by Maggie Cannon and her rifle. We also learn that, again, Evans is one of Griff Cabot's elite agents that worked for the External Security, a division of the CIA. Tommy Cannon's testimony had sent Evans to prison two years ago for murder. I loved the unraveling of the mystery of the murder of Brundridge with Maggie pointing out some overlooked discrepencies. Little Laurie, a 3 year old, added a precious reason to the plot. Rafe Dalton, the county sheriff, made no secret of wanting Maggie and he kept coming up to her cabin to "see if she was alright". His deputy, Emmitt Grimes, was a long time friend of Tommy Cannon and was on the prowl looking for Holcomb. So what was the mystery? Why had Brundridge gotten murdered? Why was Drew Evans pointed out as the murderer? And why didn't Drew get any help from his fellow agents? Griff, he knew was dead! Drew was determined to clear his name but should he involve Maggie and her daughter? And what happens when the old hormones kick in? Definitely Recommended --m [cover is questionable but good looking] do our agents really look that good?
