I loved this book. I was hooked from the first page. Kid Davis can come around to my place and show me his pistol any day!!!! The man is sex on legs. But, all jokes aside, this really was a great book. Highly recommended and a definate keeper.

Mixed feelings about this one... but it's still a keeper!,

I definitely have mixed feelings about this one... things are hit and miss for me with the tortured hero plot. I love Katherine Sutcliffe- her syle of writing, the types of characters she creates. She doesn't over simplify their emotions but she also doesn't spell out every detail of their pasts or futures. I feel like this one was a little too violent for me-- obviously characters don't have to love eachother to have sex, but anything resembling rape is biiig big turn off. Even if she means yes when she says "no," it's still a NO. The fact that our main hero has committed acts of rape as part of native American raiding parties makes me sad for his character and a little disgusted. At the end of the story, I am happy for our couple and feel like they FIT eachother... but alluding to rape will always taint a story a little bit for me. Sutcliffe doesn't treat the subject cavalierly, but it still leaves a bad taste.

A romance not to miss,
This review is from: Renegade Love (Paperback)
On a wagon train from Louisiana to Texas, young and beautiful Rachel Gregory meets a stranger that will change her life forever. 'Kit' Davis is charged murder and is being brought to Texas for trial, not a suitable match for a highborn New Orleans lady.Davis and Rachel are drawn to eachother, their attraction cannot be denied. Eventually Davis escapes, kidnapping Rachel and bringing her into his life of crime. But is he really who she believes him to be? Katherine Sutcliffe has written a wonderful love story with two unforgetable and unlikely characters. Highly recommended

The greatest romance novel I've read yet!,
This review is from: Renegade Love (Paperback)
"Renegade Love" is a book definitely worth reading. Once I read the first page, I was hooked. I wanted to keep reading to see just how Rachel and Davis would become involved. This is a great book that I would recommend to anyone!

I'm giving this review with my eyes half closed. I was up all night reading this book. I got a couple of Katherine Sutcliffe's books this week and I'm seriously impressed with her writing. Renegade Love is an unforgettable romance.

Rachel is a helpless girl stuck on a wagon train en route to Texas... her companion her horrid stepmother. Kid Davis is a dangerous outlaw, a captive, on his way to the noose. During long hot days of travel the two find themselves attracted to each other and struggle to resist. Etc.
I found this book to be just an OK read. It was rather repetitive for most of the novel... basically... long hot wagon train days in the sun. Rachel can't cook, she can't drive her wagon, she can't really do much of anything. She's both meek and confident, intermittently standing up to her stepmother and also taking abuse. She is attracted to Kid Davis but knows she shouldn't be. He comes to her rescue several times... these parts of which I enjoyed reading. But there is very limited inner dialogue from Kid's perspective so it's hard to gauge where he was coming from. Except, obviously, that he's attracted to Rachel. It took a while for me to be OK with their relationship... at first it felt violent and abusive. Kid is very verbally insulting to Rachel. After their second kiss he tells her she kisses like a corpse and he constantly tells her she's not woman enough, etc. He's very insulting to her emotionally and mentally but he does a good job of protecting her. But then at some points he doesn't... which is hard to explain without giving away spoilers. The overall plot device involving the long lost kid thing felt forced to me. It was all too obvious, because it's laid out right away so there's no surprise. Also, I found myself very turned off by Kid when he admits that he's raped women. Also, that when he was scammed by a woman once (who he married) he tracked her down and basically admits to beating her up severely. Things like this cross the line for me... I don't want an abusive, violent man like that in my romance novels. There was lots of good parts and overall a satisfying read. But I certainly wouldn't give this more than three stars.

Spellbound! Davis, an outlaw on the way to the gallows, who always feels unworthy of love.,

I picked up this book considering a good summary & wanna try to read Katherine Sutcliffe's. I seldom find a book with Hero who is an outlaw and on the way to the gallows. And it indeed satisfying love story. It is sweet, beautiful, the more I read the more I drawn to the scene. Each time passed & their love growing stronger. He always feels unworthy of love but she showers him with lots of it. I feel like watching a movie and the love scene is spellbound.
Even this book unfamous compare to other historical which review by many, but this is the kind of book which will be in my shelf-keeper, and I will be read it again & again next time. I became more addict to western historical. I have read some which is fascinating such as : Hummingbird-Lavyrle Spencer & Silver Lining-Maggie Osborne. Oh, I will buy more & more western historical...

Very easy to get into the characters, excellent story. Desire and Surrender must be the first of this family with Jezebel being the third.
