This book is great! I loooved it. It has a lot of supspense and emotion. The Phantom gets into trouble in this book and Sam is there to help him. He is put in a rodeo and is drugged to make him perform. This part in the book was very emotional to me. I highly reccomend this book. It's the best out of the series so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phantom Stallion is a Great Series!!, March 3, 2005
This review is from: The Renegade (Phantom Stallion #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read the first thirteen of the Phantom Stallion series, and The Renegade is one of my favorites. Like all the Phantom Stallion books, a lot of different story lines are presented throughout the book. You get to know not only the human characters, but also the horses, each of which have their own personality as well. I highly recommend the Phantom Stallion series for any horse lover!

5.0 out of 5 stars Typical troubles of young girls, and Wild Horses!, November 9, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Renegade (Phantom Stallion #4) (Mass Market Paperback)

This is a fun story about a young girl who has befriended a wild stallion. This was the fourth book in a series, but the only one I've read. It is well written. I recognized that there was background information in the other stories, but the story was self contained enough to stand on its own.

The young girl, Sam, struggles with fairly normal teenage stuff. She struggles with algebra and other school subjects. Sam has to deal with a snotty rich girl who is very self-centered and hardly thinks of anyone else. Sam's family is working hard to keep their ranch.

Connecting all these pieces is Sam's love for a mustang, "The Phantom Stallion." There is a woman in town who supplies animals to rodeos. Sam is worried that the woman may illegally try to capture the wild stallion, and Sam tries to protect the mustang.

This is a good story for young children. One of my daughters found the series and has read every book she could get her hands on, and several of the books she had read more than once. If you have a child who loves horses, this is a good book to get.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Renegade, December 31, 2002
This review is from: The Renegade (Phantom Stallion #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sam seems to be good at getting into trouble, lately, and into situations she doesn't like. The Phantom seems to be appearing in places he shouldn't be, and the ranch is tight on money, a constant supply of worry for Dad and Gram. Then Jake has an accident, and the Phantom goes missing. Sam thinks that Karla Starr, the low-life rodeo contractor who doesn't play by the rules, has stolen him, but she has no proof.

This was yet another excellent book in the Phantom Stallion series!! There was not much of Jake and his cleverness after the accident, but there was lots of action to make up for it, and humor and emotion, and even some sadness. All in all, excellent. Can't wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Renegade, September 4, 2008
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Renegade (Phantom Stallion #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
A rodeo contracter named Karla Star is using
the Phantom Stallion as a rodeo bucking horse.
Sam is going all around trying to find him, and
when she does he's all drugged up.
I think this is the first one with
Dr. Scott in it. He helps to save the Phantom.
In the book after this the Phantom is more
cautious around Sam. But who could blame him?

Good story, just not the best for me. I could really relate to how the characters feel. Good for readers who just began the series. A good holiday present, in my case.
