There haven't been 10 better albums made in country music over the past 50 years. Waylon Jennings used to regularly show up at Young's shows and told anybody who wanted to hear it that he had the best voice in country music. Young's also one of the finest 12 string guys in the biz. If you like Americana or Alt. Country or whatever it is they call it these days, you NEED these CDs.

I started w/ steve earle, worked my way back to townes van zandt and then got to steve young. i am not disappointed. if you like earle and van zandt you'll appreciate this. also try guy clark.

I had one of the two albums in this set (No Place To Fall) years ago on vinyl. Incredible vocals, great songwriting ("Montgomery In The Rain", "Seven Bridges Road"), and choice and interpretation of covers. The covers are particularly strong. Young's version of "No Place To Fall" defines the Townes Van Zandt song. "Don't Think Twice", is one of the best Dylan covers ever; while Young makes "Drift Away" and "The Same Old Blues" his own as well.

"No Place To Fall" is a five-star album by itself. "Renegade Picker" has less to offer, but as part of a two-for-one deal, ain't bad.
