Book Description

It is 1811, and the Prince has just become Regent, and Wellington has just retaken Portugal, and Napoleon has just started his secret plans to invade Russia. And Tatiana, the long-forgotten princess in the Winter Palace, becomes the unwilling pawn to further all their aims.

All her life, Tatiana has been a dependent of the Russian tsar. Now finally he has use for her-- in a forced marriage to a murderous British prince, in order to cement an alliance against Napoleon. She approaches this dire fate with characteristic optimism, determining that somehow, in the new country, she will find her way to a new freedom. What she doesn't expect is to find love on the way, with Devlyn, the handsome soldier sent to protect her on her voyage.

Major Devlyn, a staff officer for Wellington, is used to strategizing and scouting. These talents are no help in resisting his dangerous attraction to the pretty princess. Only he can sense the sadness beneath the dazzle, the orphaned girl within the princess. And only she can besiege his armored heart and lead him back to life.

Against the glamorous background of palaces and princes, within the political hazards of a world at war, Tatiana and Devlyn must defy generals, heads of state, and their own loyalties in their passionate need to give each other the love they have never before known.

On the war-torn Mediterranean, behind enemy lines, and in glittering London ballrooms, these young lovers battle duty, royalty, and their own passion to find their way to freedom. 100K words, PG.

Regencies by Rasley feature rakish heroes, reckless heroines, and elegant stories. Royal Renegade offers the reader the historical depth and romantic intensity of the best traditional Regencies.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This is a rewritten reprint of A Royal Escapade's print version (published in the 90s).  Don't buy both! The Kindle version is the "Author's cut," my own recent edit of the book, so that's the current one you'll probably want. I just don't want anyone buying two versions of the same book! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read! April 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read Poetic Justice first, but guess it really doesn't matter that that book should have been read after Royal Renegade.
This was a great pleasure to read. Good writing with no lengthy descriptions of clothes every other paragraph and with no vulgar sex descriptions. The story was great with little (and sometimes big) surprises all along. I hope that Alicia Rasley writes many more of these Regency romances. I will buy them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Royal Regency Magic! February 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Royal Renegade is a novel to savor. It reminded me of movies from the 1950s like "Roman Holiday" but with an 1811 setting and a happier ending. I loved the heroine's unusual background and all the royal shenanigans as her marriage is negotiated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read March 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book. Such a strong woman character facing such a bleak future she turns everything around with the help of her true love. Sounds common but it is far from it. I only wish that there would have been another chapter because after seeing the characters through all of their hardships I would have liked to see their happily ever after and felt like I missed out a little.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a good book! May 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've read so many Kindle Regencies recently that I wouldn't bother to write a review unless the book was VERY good. Royal Renegade has a unique plot, yet I found it believable -- at least, I had no trouble suspending my disbelief while reading it. I think the history was pretty right on -- she had obviously done her research, and fortunately the research didn't consist of reading a few hundred other Regencies! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars (Georgette Heyer territory) was that I thought the climax of the book came about three quarters of the way through, and the remainder was drawn out too long. Also, it was edited better than many digital books -- few misspellings or grammatical errors, and the formatting was excellent.

All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised, and will certainly try the author's other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read! August 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book tells the tale of a wonderfully spunky heroine, Princess Tatiana, of Russia. She is sent to England to enter into a state marriage with the Duke of Cumberland, who is rumored to have murdered his valet. Viscount Devlyn is given a the special mission of picking up Tatiana from Smyrna and "smuggling" her to England by private sloop. Of course, Tatiana and Michael, Lord Devlyn, are attracted to each other. What shall they do? Read the book and find out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Reading enjoyment June 5, 2012
By Judi V.
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have not made a habit of writing reviews grading books one way or the other. I feel guilty writing down these words because the reviews are so helpful to me. When ever I consider whether to purchase a book I ALWAYS read the written reviews. No doubt the authors read them too. So finally it is pay back time!

I enjoyed reading Royal Renegade very much. I love to read historical books that are not just dry history. This book had enough "history" to keep my interest. It also had enough story line and interesting characters to hold my interest. The book provides a good entertainment.
