Book Description

April 20, 2010 0470747072 978-0470747070 1
This dazzling introductory textbook encompasses the full range of today's important renewable energy technologies.

Solar thermal, photovoltaic, wind, hydro, biomass and geothermal energy receive balanced treatment with one exciting and informative chapter devoted to each. As well as a complete overview of these state-of-the-art technologies, the chapters provide:

  • clear analysis on their development potentials;
  • an evaluation of the economic aspects involved;
  • concrete guidance for practical implementation; how to reduce your own energy waste.

If we do not act now to stop climate change, the consequences will be catastrophic. The current world situation is demonstrated here with the aid of full-colour figures and photographs, data diagrams and simple calculations and results. A multiplicity of impressive examples from countries across the globe show international ‘alternative’ energy in action.

With its easy-to-read approach, this is an essential textbook for students on renewable energy courses, also environment and sustainability courses. Planners, operators, financers and consultants will find this an excellent manual for planning and realizing climate protection. Furthermore, this book makes great background reading for energy workers, designers, politicians and journalists, and anyone who is interested in the topic of climate change.

5.0 out of 5 stars Germany is leading the energy future, so you might want to listen, November 15, 2011
This review is from: Renewable Energy and Climate Change (Wiley - IEEE) (Hardcover)
This book is so far the best and most objective view about our energy future. Cost for energy from the sun is comming down and fossile fuel cost is going up. Our grandchildren will be surprised about us telling stories about using highly explosive fuel to meet our energy needs. The future is wide open, nothing is written in stone. :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Hoodwinked, November 11, 2010
This review is from: Renewable Energy and Climate Change (Wiley - IEEE) (Hardcover)
Began reading until I got to the part about "if we do not act now to stop climate change, the consequences will be catastrophic". Sorry, I had to put it down. Just more Al Gore left-wing nonsense with no scientific facts anywhere in sight. If you willingly read this rubbish, you are being willingly brainwashed! If you share this nonsense with children you should be criminally prosecuted. If really interested in the truth about climate change and energy, I can give you at least a dozen book titles filled with scientific facts. Reality would be good for a change, don't you think?
