With shallow thinking, mindless materialism, and self-gratification as the accepted norms of our culture, how does a believer remain faithful and fruitful?
Paul’s answer in Romans 12:1–2 is to renew your mind. But what does that mean? How are you to renew your mind?
Mind renewal means revolutionizing our thinking—it is not to be determined by the culture of the world around us. Rather, we must develop a distinctively different view of the world and everyday life.
Written by the late James Montgomery Boice, this outstanding and practical guide to personal application of Romans 12:1–2 to daily life will radically change not only how you see the world, it will change how you live. Step away from the trends of a mainstream culture, and follow a narrow but rewarding path to the transformation of your mind and life. These principles for discerning and following God’s will are perfect for meaningful group discussion or life-changing personal reading.
James Montgomery Boice was pastor of the historic Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a familiar voice heard throughout the world on The Bible Study Hour broadcast. He wrote more than thirty books on the Bible and related subjects.

I don't give five star ratings very often. This is one of the best books I have read in a quite a while. Dr. Boice eloquently, convincingly and helpfully explains how the Christian life is one marked by an utter transformation (renewal) of the mind. In part, this book is an exposition of Roman 12:1-2 in which the Apostle Paul commands Christians to no longer conform to the pattern of the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Dr. Boice calls us to recognize that man is both more important than we often realize, to understand that the effects of the Fall are more severe than we often realize and to actively pursue a life of conformity to the will of God through the renewing of our minds. If you're not familiar with Dr. Boice, I encourage you to get your hands on some of his books. This one is a great place to start.

Renew Your Mind,

This review is from: Renewing Your Mind in a Mindless World: Learning to Think and Act Biblically (Paperback)
As usual, James Montgomery Boice, has written an excellent book teaching us to think and act Biblically while studying Romans 12:1-2. While it may seem to be a stretch, I used this book when leading a study of the book of Ezra. God definitely was directing this step. We studied the fall and rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem while discussing the turmoil of the nation and world around us. Boice covers the problems of relativism extremely well.
