5.0 out of 5 stars what an improvement!
ok i was amazed at how much better this album is than their last effort, anyway this album is easily my favourite melodic deathcore album... its the perfect combination of melody and deathcore, i beleive the song "to all things expendable" is a great example, as it combines heavy blasts and breakdowns with beautiful melodies in the middle of the song

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh
Don't get me wrong, the album is good. The problem is it just sounds like everything I've already heard before. Take As I Lay Dying guitars and throw on some early Nodes of Ranvier vocals and you have My Bitter End. It's pretty, but both of the aforementioned bands do the job better. I laugh at people calling this "technical." If you want technical, listen to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow.., February 24, 2007

Wow..thats all I have to say. I'm not huge into this genre, but this just blew me away. Becoming Misfortune is probably my favorite track, the guitars just change the tone of the song so well, and don't get me started on the drums. The double bass is insane. I had heard this bands first release was not so hot, but with the change of vocalist and guitarist that all changed. They didn't fall into the sophomore slump thankfully lol.

Go buy this, it will rip your face apart

Umm...holy shit. This band puts all other bands in this genre to shame. Sooo....The Faceless, As Blood Runs Black, All Shall Perish, Suicide Silence......... All great bands, but MBE is just rediculous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Renovation (Audio CD)
My Bitter End's "The Renovation" is a very interesting and technical CD. The work that stands out the most is the guitars, which tend to be more technical than before, especially the intro lead in "The Renovation" and "To All Things Expendable". This band can easily be compared to the likes of bands such as Between The Buried and Me, Glass Casket, The Human Abstract, and so forth, as they are a band that may be considered metalcore/deathcore to some, but if the listener gives them a good listen, it shows that these bands do much to stand out. This CD is a slice of pure talent that deserves to be heard, and if you like a mixture of melody and technicality, "The Renovation" should be in your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, but not perfect, June 23, 2008
This review is from: Renovation (Audio CD)
MBE is a band that I gave a listen to a couple of times in the past and disliked. I went on another reviewers tip and listened to Becoming Misfortune, but that song just didn't do it for me. Then, recently, I caught a listen to To All Things Expendable and I immediately bought the album. I've grown to like Becoming Misfortune as well, but To All Things Expendable is really the best song to start out with.

It's brutal, technical and occasionally melodic. It's a great CD that should be checked out by all deathcore fans.

I do have a problem with MBE however. I hardly seemed to notice it after awhile but if you listen to Becoming Misfortune, you'll notice that the guitars absolutely overpower the vocals. The vocals are harsh and aggressive, but sometimes it's just not loud enough. I can barely hear them sometimes. They just have no strength and that was a real problem with me at first. It still irritates me a little but I've gotten used to it for the most part.

Still, it's a great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, October 21, 2007

Instrumentally, this is one of the better albums I have heard in a while. The guitarists put alot of effort in this album and it paid off. The only thing it lacks are strong vocals. Overall though, a sick album.

Theses guys are going to be the best thing going if they can follow up this amazing debut album. Incredible tempo and riff changes. They will hook you on a riff that makes you want to jump out of your car going 75 mph and then have the audacity to never come back to it. But they have so many great riffs they don't ever have to drive one down your throat time and time again. I know a lot of people prefer a steady constant riff throughout, but I get bored with it and if you do too, this is the album for you. Tons of really tight tempo changes and the drumming is sick. This is my breakthrough band of the year. I just hope they are not too good for the public to understand.

I laugh at people calling this "technical." If you want technical, listen to Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, BTBAM, and The Number 12 Looks Like You. I still recommend this for someone looking for a way to ease into this genre, but beyond that I would say take a pass.

4.0 out of 5 stars bad audio production, August 22, 2008
This review is from: Renovation (Audio CD)
This was one amazing CD!!! but the guitars definately overpower the vocals throughout the whole cd. I hate that because the screams are so good!!! this band is so awsome and the guitars are melodic and also hard as I don't know what but you cant really hear the vocals. ugh it really bothers me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blows most other Deathcore outfits to the stone age, April 7, 2008

What can i say this album is all you want in a Deathcore album. Technical, brutal, excellent musicianship, and some melody in there and just the right amount of production. Next to "All Shall Perish" these guys can easily compare to some of the best Deathcore groups out there. IMO its a little darker than "All Shall Perish" and a harder listen but well worth the listen.
