More About the Author

Marion Eleanor Zimmer was born in Albany, NY, on June 3, 1930, and married Robert Alden Bradley in 1949. Mrs. Bradley received her B.A. in 1964 from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, then did graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1965-67.
She was a science fiction/fantasy fan from her middle teens. She had written as long as she could remember, but wrote only for school magazines and fanzines until 1952, when she sold her first professional short story to VORTEX SCIENCE FICTION. She wrote everything from science fiction to Gothics, but is probably best known for her Darkover novels and for her Arthurian novel, THE MISTS OF AVALON.
In addition to her novels, Mrs. Bradley edited magazines, amateur and professional, including Marion Zimmer Bradley's FANTASY Magazine, which she started in 1988. She also edited an annual anthology called SWORD AND SORCERESS, which is still published annually under the title MARION ZIMMER BRADLEY'S SWORD AND SORCERESS.
She died in Berkeley, California on September 25, 1999, four days after suffering a major heart attack.

A very readable anthology.All the stories deal with the "free amazons" but are not in any certain order, each story takes a different view. There were a couple that dealt with the begining of the order that were very well written.Hard to find but worth it.

I get on your site... I find the books I want for a price I'm comfortable with... I place my order securely... my money is debitted appropriately... I get the item I odered in the condition claimed and in the timeframe stated... and for a job well done, or at aleast as expected (What else do you think I expect from someone who did exactly as they promised?), I come to give them a good rating. So, why are you complicating my life by making something so simple a pain in the ass? Why do I HAVE to leave a minimum of 75 word review? ...and the option of a video review? Are you kidding? You aren't Facebook... or YouTube... I have accounts with those services... I don't go there to buy books or anything else I can get here. So why are you trying to compete with them? This is the last review I give. Too bad for the other vendors who have preformed that which they have promised. So sorry. I'll still buy from them... just won't bother with the reviews.
