I never knew Glenn Close could sing so I purchased this out of curiosity. Was I ever surprised. She not only has a beautiful voice but it is clear. Very distinct. My husband has hearing problems and he could hear every word. This has become one of our most favorite Christmas CD's. I could go on and on with a lot of superlatives but I will list the songs. You won't regret your purchase.

CD awesome. Price very good. Shipped in timely fashion. Always pleased with what I puchase through Amazon. Never yet had a problem.

This has been my favorite Christmas album since I bought it at a Hallmark store in 1995. Who knew? It is a classic as much as the Bing Crosby and the Charlie Brown Christmas albums are. The real tragedy is that it is a rare and obscure title. You can't really blame people because they don't know that Glen Close can not only hold her own with a world renown opera singer, but has a voice that is truly amazing, clear and bright over an orchestra and chorus. Why hasn't she produced other albums? The orchestra, chorus and recording are superb, every song is wonderful with "Ding Dong Merrily on High" an incredible finish. It's a crime they didn't make a DVD out of the performance.

If I ever meet Glen Close I won't gush over her outstanding acting, it will be for producing a classic, and my favorite, Christmas album which I listen to, over and over, every December. If you like full throated, joyous classic Christmas music, you must have this album.

First song was a bit over done, but the rest were good. Glenn Close holds her own with the opera singer. Nice addition for the Christmas season.

I agree with other reviewers that these are two outstanding singers who have chosen an excellent selection of Christmas carols. After purchasing it for my sister for a gift, I liked it so much, I decided to purchase a copy for myself even though I already have many Christmas recordings. My only complaint is that I would like for them to have recorded more songs together - they seem to have complementary voices.

Placido Domingo is always a classic choice; and Ms. Close is very under estimated as a singer; but in listening to this cd, one can easily understand why Andrew Lloyd Webber cast her as Norma Desmond in Sunset BLVD. I have the cd's which were issued by Hallmark beginning in 1985 through Christmas of 2008, <2008 being the last release> and this is by far one of my favorites. It remains fresh; and not overly produced.

Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of twist on the traditional holiday standards.
