This album is one part of the music bible of the 20th C,

I heard this album about 2 years ago and I have been in love with it ever since. The album is pure genius. Everything from the snare rattles during the bass parts, to the incredibility of the chorus lead line in Corps Pose, is pure musical genius. The songs on this album have had such an immense impact on me that I can't even describe why. Justin Troper is easily one of the most creative guitarists around. The chords and the riffs that he has written are truly mind boggeling, purely because they don't sound like the type of riffs that you would play on a guitar.Amazingly origional. Being a drummer myself, I can honestly say, without any sexism intended, that there is not a great amount of impressive female drummers around, but the drummer from this band (who is female incase you didn't know) is absolutley incredible. This opinion is purely bassed on her creativity and origionality, there is something so incredible and inspiring about her drumming, but that is also another thing that I just cannot put my finger on. With regards to the Bass lines all I can say is that they cosist of simplicity at its best. This dude is also a musical genius. All in all, an absolutley amazing and truley inspiring band.Ther is something about them that just cannot be described with words. Hear them for yourselves and then make up your own mind.

If i could describe this cd in one word, it would be dark. Compared to Unwounds other releases, this cd is more mellan cholly for them. Its great though. Unwound is such a good band. Every aspect of them is great. Justin is one of the best guitar players/singers around, Sara Lind is definately one of the best drummers around, and vern rumsey is one amazing bassist(he has a side project out now called "red rumsey"). I could go on and on talking about how each one is one of the greatest musicians around. The guitars and vocals blend perfectly together on this cd, a good example of this is on track two. This cd is not as heavy as "future of what," and its not as upbeat as "challenge for a civilized society." Its a great blend, but it has a sound of its own. Lady Elect is the greatest song in the world. If i hated the whole cd, and only liked that song, that song is so good, i would buy the cd just for that song. But thats not the case with this cd, every song is great. This cd is more focused on music than vocals comparing to "challenge for a civilized society." if you like unwound, check out the bands Q and not U, and you will know us by the trail of dead, fugazi, hella, and red rumsey.

the best and so underrated,
This review is from: Repetition (Audio CD)
unwound was one of the best bands of the 90's but sadfully overlooked in the era before indie mainstreamness. only saw them twice, the saddest moment was seeing them in London in Spring 98 at The Garage, there was a total of five people there. it was sad, but they were amazing.
