If you look closely at the photo of this item, you'll see the strips of metal attached to the end batteries that provide conductivity via the little windows cut in the outer plastic shrink skin. These strips were curved to conform to the batteries in the original battery pack in my phone, and the battery compartment in my 9400 phone is fairly cramped. So this replacement battery barely fit into the compartment - I had to really wrestle with the compartment door back on, and I worry that the long-term stress will crack the plastic. Can't get a 9400 or anything like it any more, it has been the best wireless phone I've ever owned and I treasure it quite highly.

The battery is working fine though, and was the lowest price on Amazon, so I can't complain too much (beggar != chooser). I probably should have rolled my own replacement, but it is getting hard to find NiCd batteries, and I'm rather lazy lately.

I don't recall when I purchased this, but I bought this even though several people had written some unsatisfactory reviews pertaining to the length of time the charge held. I've not had any problems. Even though there were only rudimentary instructions included with the battery, I charged it the same way the instructions were for the phone's original battery--CHARGE FULLY FOR 48 HOURS BEFORE USING, AND WHEN LOW BATTERY SIGNALS, RECHARGE FOR 48 HOURS. I put a Post-It note on the phone with the time and date when it could be used the first time. So far I've not had to recharge, and it works fine. The folks who have had problems may have shortened the charge life by not fully charging to begin with.

So far, works fine and very happy with the product. This was purchased for a landline phone that is about 12 years old.

Battery good but had to cut away some plastic to make contact on phone. Simple fix just not a drop in part.

As shown in the picture above and as others indicated in their reviews, the battery contact openings were too short. You need to use a sharp utility knife to make the opening larger (to the top portion). After the said modification, it worked perfectly.
