I'm hoping it will last longer than it's predecessors.
The cable is also much thicker than the original, and the plugs themselves are heavy duty as well, and fit very snugly in my 545s.
I bought this to replace the original cable on my 13 year old Sennheiser HD580's easy replacement, great build quality.
