I bought my kit and filters directly from Aquasana back in June 2005. I've had a few problems, but the folks in Aquasana are very helpful. Fortunately they have made some improvements in the design of the filter housings and it's easier to install with the right tools. When the original cheaper kitchen faucet I chose started leaking water 2 years after purchase, I chose to upgrade to a much sturdier, better looking design (premium brushed nickel). I had to pay for that, but all the other things I broke (because of poor design) Aquasana replaced promptly, free of charge - I am part of their water for life program which involves spreading the cost of replacement filters over a year - that's why I can count on good customer service. If you take your time, & follow the instructions carefully when installing the filters you shouldnt have a problem and the water quality is great.

The Aquasana product line is well designed but too cheaply made to survive the effects of repeated filter
changes. The plastic parts bind up, strip and break unless you use the greatest caution when replacing filters.
The housing for the filters split and had to be replaced to the tune of $40.00 as a result of excessive water pressure. I can assure you that my hundred year old house could never produce excessive water pressure.
The hose fitting snapped off when I was attempting to unscrew the openning for the one of the filters. It is made of 1/8 inch pvc plastic. I was able to epoxy a brass replacement nipple for the hose and it is working well now. In short, Aquasana should realize that most consumers are prepared to spend a little more in the beginnign to avoid having to pay later for poorly made parts. If this unit fails again I will find something
to replace it.

I got these replacement filters on Amazon because they were less expensive than getting them from Aquasauna's website. I love my filter, I have it undermounted with the little brushed nickel spigot. It's a beautiful and healthy addition to my kitchen.

I have the Aquasana AQ-4000 under my sink and am really happy with the quality of filtered water it produces and the ease of use. I get my filters sent to me automatically every six months which makes it easy to remember and they even give you a lifetime warranty on the system! Not many companies are willing to warranty their products for life.

I had used AQ for a few years. Have/had an undercounter unit and it mostly worked okay. The plastic housing broke twice. And the caps ears broke off.

I also don't think the filtration works as good as they claim. It is hard to believe the small-sized filter media filter out more contaminants than the full-sized ones. Especially for 6 months at a go. Additionally, I was repeatedly told by the phone sales rep that the filters removed FLOURIDE. But the fact is it DOES NOT. Look at the NSF results yourself.

My last two filter sets basically fell apart in the housing to the point where one of the ends fell off the filter, allowing the water to pass through unfiltered. I was on the "6-month autoship" program so they weren't old. I also do not have high water pressure.

The reality is much of what they build is junk. And you will see it after owning the product for a while. I suspect they've cheaped out on their filter units recently--which may explain why the last two sets failed.

I have subsequently tossed my AQ undersink and gone with another manufacturer (Best Filters WRFLOURIDE model). I was an AQ customer for years but something changed with the co. recently and they have gone to sh*.

Another thing worth noting is that customer service seems to be handled in India now. The last few times I called it was a major run-around trying to get someone on the phone that could make a decision.

I have this filter for more than a year. It works fine and you can feel the taste of water is better after filtered. The taste is especially good with the filtered water to brew coffee. I love it!

Update: Aquasana has a new two stage filtration system that works well in high sediment areas, AND they have just released a 3 stage one that should be even better. I had complained to them about this problem, and they kept me in the loop the whole time, and have just provided me with a complete new system for the cost of the filters alone. They are GREAT to deal with.

New York City water is unfiltered. We have burned through these filters in 2 months or less every time, and lately they've clogged almost immediately. We bought a sediment prefilter setup from them, but it didn't help for long.
We got a prototype of a filter that works in high sediment and it works really well, but I can't get any answer from them about when, or if, these will ever go into production. The water itself, when we managed to get it, is quite good, so if you're in a place with low sediment, go for it.
My advice: First, get your water tested. If you don't have a problem with much of the stuff Aquasana filters out, or you have high sediment, don't waste your money with these filters (and the expensive undersink setup.) I'm out a LOT of money, since I got systems for both myself and my daughter, and I'm not happy, especially since the sediment issue was apparently a known problem.
