My Traeger grill started to pop the GFCI it was plugged into. I did the Traeger debug method (see their website Q&A) and found I needed to replace the Hot Rod. This worked perfectly. I went to Youtube for instructions on how to replace it (I recommend you do the same). One tip I found that was fantastic was to attach a spare wire (with tape for example) to the plug on the end of the old hot rod. As you pull it out, it will thread the spare wire through the path of the old hot rod wiring. When you're ready to put your new hot rod in, you attach the plug of the new hot rod to the spare wire and pull it out backwards and it easily comes through all of the holes in the body of the grill. I was able to replace my hot rod in about 15 minutes. Also, you only want to leave about 3/8 of an inch of the hot rod exposed. I've read the hot rod will last longer that way. I did that and it's worked great so far.

I bought this to replace the igniter to my Traeger Lil'l Tex Elite that went bad after only seven months. While doing my research regarding the part the failed I ran across comments that Traeger had a bad batch of igniters (hot rod) which are made in china. I am very happy so far with my purchase, my Traeger seems to ignite faster and reach temperature faster. Because I could not remove the old igniter from the fire box because of a build up of carbon Traeger sent me a new fire box which may account for grill reaching temperature faster. If your grill is less than tree years old and you need to replace the hot rod ask Traeger for a new fire box.

My Traeger smoker suddenly quit working. It kept popping the GFCI. Thinking that it was a gonner, I did some Googling and found a posting with a step-by-step troubleshooting check list that helped me identify that my problem was the "hot rod". I removed the original part and was about to order an OEM part when I came across a posting for this hot rod which is slightly shorter than the original and easier to install. It works great. I've used it several times since. The Traeger is reborn.

Would have liked some instructions with the part on how to install into the Trager. It was well priced and came quickly.
