5.0 out of 5 stars LCD Review
As said above by the other buyer this item isn't a level one install. I placed a white sheet on the kitchen table and drew diagrams with a sharpie as I took each piece apart. In total there were twenty-six screws. The product arrived five days earlier then scheduled. The tool kit is also a must have especially since the screw drivers are magnetic. From start to...

I expected that this item would be as described, particularly from a "Fulfilled by Amazon' retailer. However, the listing--which clearly states that it includes the screen with digitizer, the 7 piece toolkit, and the microfiber cloth--came only with the screen/ digitizer. There was no toolkit. I contacted the seller, who said they couldn't help me as it was Fulfilled by...

5.0 out of 5 stars LCD Review, November 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
From start to finish I was able to replace my LCD unit in about two hours, after having to retake it apart noticing I didn't allow for enough ribbon slack to connect the display. As stated above be sure to lay everything out neatly, as there are many small items to lose. Once installed I powered it on, and looked just like the day I received it brand new! Good quality product!

I contacted the seller, who said they couldn't help me as it was Fulfilled by Amazon. Amazon couldn't help as it was a third party product. I returned it for a refund and ordered another at the suggestions of the seller--but guess what the second package was also missing? Yep, toolkit and cloth.

I now see the slew of bad reviews on this item, which is CLEARLY a mislisting that Amazon should do something about considering the litany of bad reviews. Of course, the caveat emptor reviews didn't show up on the product page because they weren't considered "the most useful." Codswollop. I have been a loyal Amazon shopper for years and this is to date the worst experience I have had.

In the interest of full disclosure, the screen did work fine once replaced, but the toolkit would have made it immensely easier, and I hate being lied to by a seller about the items included in a listing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tricky Install, Works Perfect, December 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
This is a difficult installation. There are several videos instructing how to disasemble, but the parts are very small. Received my replacement screen today and finished the install a few minutes ago. Took me about 30 minutes to disassemble/reassemble with replacement screen. Make sure that you purchase this screen with the digitizer AND LCD... some retailers are trying to peddle just the digitizer. Just the digitizer is a scam! Repeat, buy the LCD with digitizer like the one sold on this page, if you want to replace your damaged Iphone 4 screen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy here...you won't receive everything you order, June 1, 2011
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
I purchased this product because it came with the tool kit. I received the glass with the display but NO TOOL KIT. Kinda worthless without the tool kit. Buy from a different seller.

1.0 out of 5 stars 7 tools apparently aren't enough, May 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
So far I can't be sure how the actual replacement screen is -

The 7 tools included apparently don't allow you to remove the screws required to begin the replacement process. I need a pentalobe tool for step one - why isn't this included? Or at least noted in the description so you can order that in addition?

The lack of a list of tools included (and those actually needed) is ridiculous.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect non-OEM replacement, all around, November 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
My son dropped and smashed his iPhone 4 (facedown on rocks), so I swapped it with mine so he wouldn't have to deal with a rapidly fragmenting screen

I read dozens of reviews, because I was concerned about a non-OEM screen at such a low price
I never fell for the clowns who advertise the replacement screen when it is only the glass and frame .. good luck doing a repair without the actual LCD ..

I was not able to get an OEM replacement from Apple, and the best I could do is bypass my carrier's annoying upgrade thievery and have Apple replace the phone for $199

I also looked as some of the repair videos out there, and their version of the non-OEM screen for well over $100.

So - I almost went ahead and replaced the phone because of some of the mediocre reviews (I completely disregarded the totally negative ones)

Instead, I went ahead and bought this item.

I ordered on Thanksgiving four day weekend (US) and it arrived on Monday, securely bundled in bubble wrap, inside a box, inside a Priority Mail envelope.
Shipping was perfect.

It also contained all the tools I needed, including the five pointed star driver (which I did not need) and some tools I did not use.

So now the gamble - I was spending thirty or so dollars, knowing full well I might have to add that to a $200 replacement phone if the repair went badly.

The repair is mid-level in terms of expertise ... you need the magnetic tools (provided), patience and very good eyesight, to be able to do it without crushing electrical contacts, losing screws etc.
WARNING on the repair - reassembly is difficult because things fit so snugly and it is easy to think a board is in place when it is not ..
most importantly - watch out whe reconnecting the audio wire - extremely difficult to position properly

The product is absolutely perfect .. it was brand new, no scuffs at all .. no bad "pixels" anywhere, no lines, and no yellowish tinge
Responsiveness is perfect.

Some reviews warn about the screen inside the speaker hole.
Pretty simple - the new unit does not include one - just remember to transfer it when doing the job. Most of the repair videos make this abundantly clear.

Some reviews warn about an alleged lack of oleophobic coating ...
Frankly, if you buy an iPhone and do not use a screen protector and rugged case, I think you might have a couple screws loose to begin with.
Oleophobic coating is only relevant to unprotected phones ... so who really cares .. and is it really missing in the first place ? enough said ..

Some reviews warn that the glass separates and has to be pressed back in ...
I haven't seen that, but I'd guess that they forgot to take the anti-scratch temporary film off the face or something :-)

The only negative things I have (which does not warrant removing a star) is that
no instructions come with it, but that may be a liability thing
the blue film on the back of the unit needs to be removed if you look carefully at the videos ..
but I was nervous about removing it and again no instructions so ..
Bottom line - this is as close to OEM as you get, at a fraction of the price

and I now have a perfect iPhone 4 again ... thanks to an extremely high quality seller and product.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: Very Poorly Made!, September 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
So I bought this considering it had decent reviews. The quality is very poor. The glass separates from the screen and I have to push it down to "reseat" it. Low quality adhesive? Who knows. Also it does not come with the mesh that goes behind the ear piece speaker. So if you look at the front of your phone it looks not-OEM. Also my screen is darker in the center. I noticed this when using the camera and on certain apps. So the outside of the screen is light while about the size of a quarter in the center is darker. Very annoying. I hope the seller see's this and tries to make it right.

BE WARNED

Buy another screen. This one is cheap quality and not worth your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missing key parts!, June 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
Seriously, this kit is missing important parts! I feel silly for not heeding warnings from other reviewers, but if you're looking to fix your iPhone 4 with one kit, this doesn't work. Perhaps those who rated it higher already had the other screwdrivers (the five-pointed screwdriver in particular). Guess I'll take it to a repair shop and swallow my pride...

1.0 out of 5 stars No oleophobic coating, screen is actually Verizon, and discolored pixels, May 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
These seller was rather incompetent at giving me a good (and correct) iPhone 4 front panel assembly. There are three reasons why I will give this product 1/5 stars. :
1. The screen was not oleophobic. Side-by-side comparisons of an original iPhone 4 glass shows that this replacement screen gives significantly more friction than the original glass.
2. The screen had a thickness that was greater than my original iPhone 4 Screen (at&t). It would be fair to warn the the end user about the fact that this could be for the Verizon iPhone so that we may return it upon finding out that it was the wrong piece (because we know that the Verizon iPhone is a little thicker)
3. The screen had a defective stream of off-colored pixels. They're barely noticeable, but will show up on a dark background by giving a small "rainbow" of pixels effect.

I challenge anyone and reproduce my claims, and I'd like an explanation for my purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Recycled Assembly & missing 5 Point Pentalobe Torx Screw Driver, September 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Replacement for Apple Iphone 4 Touch Screen Digitizer + LCD Assembly + Repair Tool Kit + Fit For AT&T Version Only (Electronics)
The good news is that the digitizer/LCD assembly and tool kit arrived quickly. The bad news is that the assembly was used and scratched, and had obviously been recycled. The tool kit was also missing the 5 Point Pentalobe Torx Screw Driver that is supposed to be included. I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews instead of taking a chance that I would get a complete kit. I'm returning it today and will buy elsewhere.
