My Saab key was disintegrating and the dealer wanted $170 for a replacement key. This case (doesn't include the electronic key) works well and looks like it will never fall apart. Great and cheap solution. The buttons are not as easy to push as original but the savings more than compensates.

It's not spongy and rubbery like the original, which as other here have pointed out is a good thing. I've replaced one key already and will probably replace the other eventually. It's a good and economic replacement.

The two pieces of plastic don't fit together securely. Once the circuit-board from the original key is placed inside the two halves of the key, one side won't stay closed at all. This item is essentially unusable unless you were to glue the two parts together, but then you wouldn't be able to change the battery. Also, the width of the plastic where it joins the "key" part from the original key is too wide, so there would be two sharp corner to catch on your pockets all the time. It would cost more than the purchase price to mail it back to Malaysia for a refund, so mine's going in the trash.

I bought this new key fob to replace an existing functional but disintegrating key fob for my 2004 Saab 9-3, where the rubber coating was gone and the buttons were held on by scotch tape. It was very easy to move the innards of my old original key fob to this new one. Just pull out the key blade from the old original fob, then pop open the original and the replacement fobs with a twist of a dime in the fob center indentation next to where the key blade slides in/out of the fob. Lay the old & new pieces side by side, then gently pry out the old circuit card with an x-acto knife or similar narrow knife blade, then gently press the circuit board into the new fob. Repeat for the battery in the other half the key fob. Then snap the new fob back together, beginning at the small end and working your way up toward the wide end. Slide the key blade into the new fob and you're done. The key fob is fully functional and usable at this point... there's no need for any reprogramming at the dealer.

very awesome and works :)
just saved me a bunch of money trying to buy another fob and having reprogrammed.
could have had better instructions, but you basically pull the old fob apart, pull the chip and battery out, pop into the new fob, and snap shut....takes about 20 seconds.

Went together fairly easily. It does not have snaps "like the OEM does" that hold the internal circuitry in place, so you have to make sure it and the battery don't fall out when snapping it together. Also, the key was very stiff going in the first time, but after working it in and out a couple of times it became reasonable; still plenty tight to prevent the key from coming out accidentally though. The buttons are definitely more stiff than the OEM but I like it that way, I've had the OEMs button accidentally get pressed when in my pocket.

On a side, nit picking, note I kind of miss my SAAB logo on the back =/ but that's a small sacrifice.

I looked at a lot of alternatives online for replacing my too-soon-worn-out original 2010 Saab 9-3 key fob until I found this one that said it is like the original (not hard plastic) and comes with the Saab logo. It is exactly as described and worked perfectly the first time I started the car with it and the buttons are easy to press. Just be sure that you follow the directions in your Saab manual and you shouldn't have any problems.

It's not quite as nice as the original key fob, but it snapped together easliy and works perfectly. Plus I can pop the SAAB emblem off the old one and glue it to this one :)
