Original review (June 2009): I've used only one battery as the other one died before I could even use it. Charged it, then went to use it and nothing. Won't even recharge. Either I got unlucky or the product quality is bad. The one that works is fine. Working on the seller to get a new battery, but who knows how that will go. Will update this review later.

Update - two years later: the replacement battery they sent died shortly after received. And the first (good) one died about a year ago. Poor quality product. Spend the money on an OEM Nikon battery.

I bought my first SLR this year and having only used point and shoot cameras previously, I figured I needed a ton of extra batteries. Well, it turns out that I didn't really need extra batteries, but for the price, I'm really glad I have these. They hold a charge for just as long as the Nikon brand battery that came with my D3000. Very pleased.

The Nikon En-el9 works great for the D40x. Fits just as well as the original battery and lasts just as long if not longer. It definitely gets the job done.

I was able to charge both batteries upon receiving them but after using one it was dead and would NOT take a charge with my Nikon approved charger that came with my D-40. The second battery worked for a little while longer, then it also would NOT charge leaving me with 2 worthless batteries. I attempted to return them to the supplier but after numerous run in's with their customer service messages and not able to talk to a real live person, I gave up! Bottom line, I won't buy these again. I will stick with a genuine Nikon battery.

I ordered these as back-up batteries. They are perfect. They come in a little velvety-bag for storage and hold a charge just fine. I was impressed with the follow-up by the seller, also.
