This transmission works good so far. With the help this YouTube video [...]I was able to install it myself on my Toro Personal Pace lawnmower, model 20066.

Be aware that a pulley was not included in the part, so I just used the pulley from the old transmission. Also two small and vital 1/4inch springs were missing from both ends of the shaft and I used the springs from the old transmission shaft.

Works perfect now!

You will have to use the old pulley and may have to secure the shaft from the inside of the old transmission to loosen the nut. Be aware of the small springs inside the groove at both ends of the shaft. You will need to use the old ones or order separately. On top of the spring fits a small half moon "key" that engages the gears. Be careful when pulling the gears off as this key may fly off from the spring. Be aware the gears go only one way per end to engage this key properly and allow forward pushing without power drive.

I ordered the reverse of what I needed, and to save time the company gave me instructions on how to reverse the gear. A few minutes later, it was running the correct direction. Very helpful, and informed people that are willing to work with me. Being mechanically inclined their instructions were clear and to the point. The customer was satisfied that his mower was self propelled again.

Worked great, perfect fit, no issues. Delivered as promised without any problems or issues. Grass certainly looks very good now. Replacing this item in my Toro was a chore because of the Toro design (not the new part).

I went to my local Toro shop and they didn't have the $76 item in stock. Glad they didn't since this was about $25 less and works great. I've mowed with it once after installing and now the mower is back to a self-paced walk behind, rather than a push-mower with a bad transmission. The mower I got in 2007 (model 2007). My expectation is that I'll probably have to buy another transmission in 4 years. The transmission is not the best design, but the rest runs great. If you can fix it yourself, then $50 isn't too bad. Check Youtube for guidance videos on replacing.

I have had this installed for a few months now and it is performing excellently. Be aware that if you do the installation yourself it does not come with any instructions. Good videos are available on YouTube that will guide you through the process for a more efficient installation.

Bought this to replace the transmission in my 7-year-old Toro Recycler lawn mower. As several other reviews mentioned, the replacement is a chore but several helpful videos are available online. The transmission worked very well at first. The first couple of times that I mowed my lawn it was like having a new mower again. Unfortunately, after the first month the transmission started to work intermittently. It seemed to stop providing any assist for a few feet, and then it would start working again. Last week it quit working completely (5 months after installation). I do not have a large yard (less than 1/2 acre), although there are some moderately sloped areas. I can't say that my experience with this product is typical, and it is possible that the rest of the parts on my mower were sufficiently worn that it was not a fair test. I also may not have installed it properly, although as I said, it worked great in the beginning. Bottom line: this part bought 5 additional months of service for my old mower but it did not last one full mowing season.

OK, the old mower quit and I ordered up this Replacement part For Toro Lawn mower # 106-3956 TRANSMISSION ASM
which the Toro mower site says is the replacement transmission for a Toro Mower Model 20067 SN 2800006137.

So off to friendly Amazon to get a good price. Ordered it and it shows up 2 1/2 days later. Compared it to the old broke Xms and it looked right. All right I think. Now we're gonna get back in business.

Couldn't turn the thing by hand to check the raw part, but after putting on brackets and pulley, and installing it in the mower where it fit exactly only one thing was wrong. MY HEAD. Looking at the drive sprockets they appear to turn backwards. I thought something was wrong. Don't make my mistake.

I forgot the drive gear on the axle turns a cog on the wheel which makes the wheel go forward. As it should. The vendor was nice when I said something was wrong. They couldn't help that the error was mine.

After a good nights sleep, some caffeine and head on straight I realized the problem was between my ears. The parts were quickly reassembled and I'm cutting grass. Thanks Guys. Sorry for the confusion.
