Replacement conveyor belt for 16" Performax/Ryobi/etc sanders

I've always liked my Performax 16/32 except for the conveyor belt. The sandpaper belt was difficult to track, even with the little ceramic inserts, frequently buckled up in places, and tore very early in its life.

This belt arrived at my house within a couple of days after order, went on without any problems, tracks perfectly and works much better in general than the original equipment.

I would consider this to be a mandatory upgrade for any 16/32 owner!

I was never happy with the belt that came on my Performax 16/32, for all the money it cost it was opening at the seam within a few days. This replacement belt is made much better at about the same price. The fit was perfect and took only 10 min. to install and track. Shipping took only two days, I would buy it again if I need one again.

This is so much better and more permanent than the piece of sandpaper which came with the sander from the manufacturer. It hasn't stretched. It was a bit challenging to install it but with a little ingenuity and work, it didn't take long at all.

I like it much better than the OEM sandpaper conveyor belt.

great product but no instilation instructions my sander had a ceramic guide and the poly belt seems to work better with it removed but i had to guess at this a little simple instruction would have been nice shipping and service was fine thanks L.D.

This beats the paper one hands down. This should have been installed factory. I guess they just want you to by paper replacements from them.

As others have stated, the installation is a bit tricky. I had to totally remove the tenson roller bolts to get the belt on. Another 1/2 " of material would not kill the supplier. That being said, I do like the belt. I have not had an opportunity to use it for an extended period, but I will be milling and sanding a lot of Hickory this week. To the person having slipage issues, be sure the tension rollers have adequite spring pressure. That will make a big differance.

Update 2-17-11. I just upgraded my sander with a 1-1/2 HP Motor. I have had a lot of problems with slippage with the poly belt. I added stronger springs to the tension adjustment. I will be running many board feet of cedar today. I guess I will find out if I have solved the slipage issue.

If you do not have the ability to modify your machine, I would not recommend this feed belt.

3-1-11 After running for about five hours running a lot of cedar boards I have found that the belt will not maintain tracking at all. I have to leave the bolts holding the outfeed roller loose so I can adjust the belt every hour or so. Even with micro adjustments, I still am unable to get this thing to track.

I have been working with wood for over twenty five years and have maintained my equipment through the years. In retrospect I wish I had just purchased the Jet/performax belt.

I am going to get rid of this worthless feed belt. It will not track, material right out of the planer slips so I have to follow every piece with hand pressure.

Basicly I consider this a total waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The belt seems to look like it will outlast the sandpaper type. Absolutely no information on installing the new belt big question use the guide blocks or not I left them off seems to track just fine. Now the big question how well does it work ? Not to good work pieces totally slip the surface is more like nylon than rubber (if your familiar with rubber roofing pretty much the same.) just way to slick. I'm hoping in time some of the slickness will wear down then it might grip. I think for $100 with shipping it's a waste of money. If you do a web search there is a place that sells the sandpaper feed belts for $25.40 . Don't know if I can post the web site this might help search "Sanding Stinks but Our Sandpaper Rocks! "

I purchased this as a last resort before getting rid of my Performax sander. I have been having severe tracking issues for several years, needing to reinstall the conveyor sanding belt every 10 minutes of use. A new stock conveyor belt did nothing to alleviate the problem. I quit using the sander for over a year out of frustration.

I installed the belt, left the optional tracker kit installed, made sure to tension it evenly and started it up. The conveyor belt belt ran true with no adjustments needed. I have sanded over 500 board feet of Ash with no problems. I am extremely pleased with the belt and the fast shipping. I definitely recommend this replacement belt, especially if you are having tracking problems.

I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the new belt arrived. I called the company on Monday morning, after ordering the belt over the weekend, to ask if the new conveyor belt could be used with the optional Perfomax tracker kit. They could not give me a definitive answer. I did find out that the belt had already been shipped.

The belt I received had less friction to it and the wood slips a little bit when it goes through the sander. For the cost, I am disappointed, to say the least.

The belt was very difficult to install because even after
relieving the tensioners all the way to the point the deck was as short as possible,
the belt was super tight. After much pushing and pulling and even running the little motor to rotate
the belt while I pushed and pulled ( a bit dangerous but it helped) the mission was accomplished.
Installing the deck back on the unit was easy and it has worked fine so far. I never had any trouble with the old
sandpaper belt for the 10 years I used it but eventually it got brittle and began breaking apart. Kinda like me.
I received the belt in a timely manner.
