The replacement cushions do fit the Bose Around Ear headphones as advertised, but they are not a true replacement. They do not come close to the quality offered by the true Bose cushions. The cushions have no give. It feels like they are filled with hard plastic when worn. I absolutely do not recommend this product and will be seeking a refund.

The material on these is way different from the original pads that came with my Bose headphones. It isn't even close to as soft as the original pads. Worse yet, I can tell a difference in the sound. It is as if the lower frequencies have disappeared from anything I listen to now. I can only guess this material is absorbing more vibration.

If I could have found OEM pads somewhere I would have bought them!

Update 09/17/2012! I received my OEM replacement pads from Bose today. I cannot believe how much better my headphones sound now! DO NOT waste your money on these non-OEM pads unless you plan on ripping off a pawn shop....

I purchased the original Bose 901 speakers back in the 70's and have continued buying Bose products ever since. When I needed a good set of headphones, I bought the Bose Triports. Imagine my disappointment when they broke apart after only a few weeks. I bought a second set of Triports only to have the ear pads self-destruct in short order. I swapped ear pads with those from my broken Triports only to have those soon disintegrate as well. I could special order OEM replacement ear pads from Bose, but they are very expensive and have obvious reliability issues.

I found these aftermarket replacement ear pads at Amazon.com. I bought two pairs for much less then Bose wanted for one. Quality as far as form, fit, and function is really very good. They are made of less exotic but more stable materials not prone to rot like the others. No, they are not as soft as the original Bose pads, but soft enough. They isolate outside noise well. I hear no change in low bass response nor have I experienced any other issues mentioned in these reviews.

I am a retired Quality Engineer and as such would recommend this product to my family and friends.

I ordered these for my old TP1s and returned them immediately due to the stiffness and thinking there wasn't anything from Bose themselves for a product they stopped selling in 2010. Turns out they do still sell them if you ask -$35 plus tax and free shipping and they just clip into place. No tape to hold them on. Have a new pair of TriPorts. Just email Bose and they'll send you the link. Part # is 029176 but the Bose site no longer lists them and you can't search so email them for the link or call.

I purchased these replacement pads to put on my Triport headphones that I've had for a few years. The old original pads were worn out, all of the leathery covering was worn off. When I got these in the mail, I remembered thinking how hard they felt compared to the originals, but I was sick of the old leather wearing off and leaving black specs all over my ears.

The only reason I am giving these 2 stars instead of 1 is because they fit and are a working product, but not at all on the level you want if you already paid for Bose headphones. After a few days of using the new pads. I was already fed up with the loss of sound quality and poor comfort. I immediately went to the Bose store and purchased a set of OEM pads, which was worth every penny in the quality gained.

I found these in the back of my desk today after leaving them there to rot many months ago. I tore these pads apart before tossing them in the trash this afternoon. The foam inside is a very poor quality, the fake leather coating is hard, and gets worse with body oils from around your ear.

The only reason I can see buying this product would be if it were reduced in cost to $5 or less, and you really didn't care about quality or comfort.

As another reviewer mentioned, they're terribly stiff when it comes to padding. Bose ear pads also have plenty of holes punched around the interior of the pads, whereas these don't have as many. To be honest, I'm not really sure what the holes DO, but it could have something to do with how the padding breathes and lets air out, accounting for the uncomfortable nature of these. Now granted, the reason I bought these was to replace my old pair. The old pair lasted a year or more of heavy use, and one could liken the switch to throwing out an old pancaked pillow... except not really. My Bose OEM pads were never this rigid, there was never a break-in period as rough as this. The materials used don't inspire confidence. If I could do it over, I'd pay the extra $15 from Bose for a proper replacement.

Update: I work as an event videographer on the weekends (I also have a full-time job in the non-profit sector during the week). Anyway, to define "heavy use" as explained above- I bring my Bose Around-Ear headphones out on jobs. The reasons are twofold-
1. I can easily distinguish which audio channel from my camera is coming in from either ear and whether the channel is "hot" or not.
2. Bose Around-Ear headphones or Triports *HAVE PASSIVE NOISE-CANCELLING* due to their design.
When I was out on a video job (a wedding) tonight, the noise cancellation of the complete seal around the ear wasn't there from the Bose OEM ear cups. I literally said to myself "I really shouldn't be hearing that external noise", but I certainly was. If you appreciate the passive noise cancellation from your Bose ear cups, avoid these. My ears are ringing, the feature I was counting on in my $150 headset wasn't there, and now I'm considering handing Bose another $35 to have the fix done the right way.
