This is the first full-length album from Play. Play is four girls from Stockholm, Sweden (Faye, Anaïs, Rosie, and Anna.) What sets this girls apart from other pop-bands is that these chicks can really SING! Back when I first saw the single for "Us Against The World" I was like "Omg, another stupid pop girl band that are about 10 years old and can't sing." Well then I actually HEARD it and I was blown away! The harmonies are tight, the appearance is appealing, and the songs are catchy! Here's a track-by-track review :I MUST NOT CHASE THE BOYS - The lead single from the album. It is a strong statement about a girl's transition from girl to woman. Cute song! (5/5) HONEY TO THE BEE - I love this song! It's very much poppy! The harmonies are really good on the chorus. (5/5) JUST A LITTLE - WOW! This song is very mature sounding, and is very much an R&B track. Very very cool! (4/5) WHOLE AGAIN - Great ballad! This song was originally recorded by UK's Atomic Kitten (I think Play did it better because they actually SING it! Atomic Kitten just talks it.) The lyrics are very good, and the vocal power on the chorus is fantastic! (5/5) HOT - This song is an R&B track with an unidentifiable rapper in the song (I have NO idea who it is! I think it's the same rapper on Samantha Mumba's "I'm Right Here.") This song is definitely energetic, but not personally one of my favorites. (3/5) A GIRL'S MIND - This is a cute song. It's about how confusing girls can be! Chorus is very upbeat and catchy! (4/5) WHAT IS LOVE - This is one of the stand out tracks! It's a great ballady-type song. I love the chorus. Harmonies sound great! (5/5) 11 OUT OF 10 - This is a great song! It's mellow, and the lyrics are great! People can relate to this one (about someone they know) It's got a good hook... cool pop song. (4/5) LET'S GET TO THE LOVE PART - Love love love this one! The vocals are GRREAT! Penned by Desmond Child, this poppy tune would make a good radio release! (5/5) 2 BLOCKS DOWN - This is a cool song! The guitars are actually a bit country sounding! It's neat! The chorus (lyrically) is very unique! (4/5) AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH - I was SOOO excited when I found out Play was re-doing this ultimate classic! They pulled it off well! I love the arrangement of the song (where the vocals were re-arranged) (5/5) OVERALL : GREAT! It's a great listen! Definitely check this out! My only problem is that Faye over-powers the album. You NEVER hear leads from Anna or Rosie. It's kinda a disappointment... but still a great album!

Big Improvement!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Replay (Audio CD)
When I bought their first album I was not happy, maybe it was because somebody forgot to tell them that 7 songs wasn't considered a full album but this time there's 11 songs (12 if you get the album at target) an enhanced CD...and the best: No Chris Trousdale ruining any of the songs.1. I Must Not Chase The Boys: A+ I love this song! I'm so happy they picked to be their first single! 2. Honey to the Bee: A- This song is certainly very catchy but does tend to be a little dull at times 3. Just A Little: A In this album, although most of the songs are pop, Play still did introduce themselves to some new styles of music, just like in this track which is a mostly R&B style. 4. Whole Again: B+ I like this song, but I like Atomic Kitten's song much better. Also, if you have heard Atomic Kitten's original version ... notice how when play says 'You can do no harm' Atomic Kitten's version says 'you can turn me on' 5. Hot: A- I like this song but it doesn't really have a message to it. 6. Girl's Mind: A doesn't this song remind you of No Secrets' 'Thats What Girls Do' lol...ver catchy (I'm listening to it right now) 7. What Is Love: B+ Let's make it short & sweet- It's a really sweet track. 8. 11 Out of 10: A- Even though this is a great song it doesn't quite get 11/10. 9. Let's Get to the Love Part: B Not quite as catchy as the other songs but still great. 10. 2 Blocks Down: A+ I love this song!! Extremely catchy, it's perfect. 11. Aint No Mountain High Enough: A+ Just like on the first album, there must be a remake, except this time they really made it their own. 12. (target exclusive) Unspeakable: A+ I got my album at target and let me say it's worth it! In conclusion, this album is great. A big surprise since last album's failure.

All the songs are so good and these songs showed how hard Play have been working. If you really love Play, you should get the new album "Don't Stop The Music" coming in March 9. Too bad Faye Hamlin left to go back to school and have a better education, but they got Janet Leon to take her place. I don't know if that album is better than this. 1.I Must Not Chase The Boys 5/5: A really cool song. It has a great music videos to go with it. The video is kind of spooky because it took place in a really haunted hotel. It is about growing up. 2.Honey To The Bee 4/5: I like this one better than the original version of the song. Faye's voice really turned it from boring into fun. 3.Just A Little 5/5: A better version than Liberty X. 4.Whole Again 5/5: My favorite song. It is so cute and the lyrics are really good. It is way better than Atomic Kitten. On the chorus, Atomic Kitten didn't sound good. Play sounded extremely well. They sang really loud and AK sang it really soft. "You can do no wrong" is so much better than "You still turn me on". It is about losing a guy and getting him back. 5.Hot 4/5: It has the Hawaiian tropical sound and music. 6.Girl's Mind 4/5: It is about how a girl's mind can be really hard to understand. 7.What Is Love 5/5: The lyrics and music are really beautiful and amazing. It is about how you would feel when you first meet a guy and how it feels to be in love. Faye Hamlin's favorite song. 8.11 Out Of 10 5/5: The music and lyrics are really catchy and you would want to listen to it over and over again. 9.Let's Get To The Love Part 4/5: This song is all about your first date. 10.2 Blocks Down 3/5: A country style song. It is kind of boring and you might want to skip past it and go to the next one. 11.Ain't No Mountain High Enough 4/5: A great and catchy song. You might want to get up and dance to it. They will remake this song on the next album. This is the only song I know so far for the next album. 1.Evergirl I'll try to find out the other.

The four girls from Sweden that make up the pop group PLAY are back with a sophmore album titled 'REPLAY'. This time around, they have 11 awesome tracks on the cd. The sound of REPLAY has more of an R-N-B edge, and showcases the girls' vocal ranges even more than on their debut cd. Fans can tell that the girls have grown up through the years with songs like 'What is Love' and 'Hot', which sounds more r-n-b than some of the other songs. Stand out cuts from REPLAY include their first single 'I Must Not Chase the Boys', in which member Faye sings lead. Play does a cover of UK female pop sensation Billie Piper's hit song 'Honey to the Bee', as well as a cover of the Atomic Kitten single 'Whole Again'. Play also re-recorded the classic hit 'Aint No Mountain High Enough', but their version doesn't compare to the original. If you buy the cd from Target stores, there is an exclusive bonus song called 'Unspeakable', which I think should have been on the album anyways! The vocal arrangements on all the songs are perfect. Anyone who listens to the songs can tell that Anais, Rosie, Faye and Anna have a lot of talent, with their smooth harmonies. Fans of the first PLAY cd will definitely be impressed with REPLAY.

Wow! I was pleasently surprised to see more of a rock sound coming from Play. Faye still has the most solos, with Anais coming in 2nd. Actually I think Rosie deserves some more credit here - she has an amazing voice that is very high in a good way - very pretty, reminds me of the sky, cluds and air (weird personificiation, I know). Here's the tracks:
1. I Must Not Chase the Boys: 5/5 Great song! This is the only Play song on this CD that got any air play on mainstream radio, but it's great! I'm not a big fan of the speaking part, but it's got a kind of spooky, rock quality in it. They shine in this song. 2. Honey to the Bee: 5/5 Another great song! I'm not a big fan of slower songs, but I love this one. It has an R&B feel to it. Their vocals are just amazing in this song, especially Faye. It really shows off her range. 3. Just a Little: 4/5 Not a huge fan of this song, but it has a good, dancey beat and tune. A good song, but it could've been better. 4. Whole Again: 5/5 MUCH better than the Atomic Kitten version. I love this song. But it's one of those songs that grows on you - when you first hear it, it's ok, but you like it more as you hear it more. 5. Hot: 4/5 Not the best song on the album. It's just missing something. Good for dancing, though. 6. Girl's Mind: 5/5 AMAZING! I love that it starts out pretty dark-sounding (I mean the verses), but turns into fun pop for the chorus. This song shows their musical versatility. 7. What is Love?: 5/5 GREAT vocals. I have to admit, better than Raven's version. This song is good for someone who likes R&B AND pop. 8. 11 Out of 10: 4/5 Good, but could've been a little better. I like the words and tune, but it's missing that hit quality a song has to have to be a 5/5. 9. Let's Get to the Love Part: 5/5 Great! Faye again has those amazing vocals. She shines. Anais is good on this song, too. 10. 2 Blocks Down: 6/5! The BEST song on this CD!!! It starts out sounding like rock, but turns into more poppy towards the chorus. I LOVE the words - I totally can relate to them. A song usually needs lyrics you can relate to to be awesome like this. 11. Ain't No Mountain High Enough: 5/5 AWESOME VOCALS. That says it in 2 words. It's JUST AS GOOD AS THE VERSION WITH JANET AND WITHOUT FAYE ON "DON'T STOP THE MUSIC". 12. Unspeakable [Target Bonus Track]: 5/5 GET THE TARGET VERSION - IT IS JUST THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY AND HAS THIS AWESOME SONG. Plus, this song wasn't shown anywhere else. I HIGHLY recommend the Target CD. This song has great lyrics and a great tune. OVERALL: 5/5 Great job, Play! They really matured for this CD. Their vocals are better. All around: AWESOME CD!!!!! A DEFINITE MUST HAVE AND TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!

If you're expecting the Disney sugar pop heard on their debut and 'Don't Stop The Music,' 'Replay' may leave you cold. But if you wanted meatier lyrics and a more rockin' sound from these sweet-voiced girls, then this is an album you have to have. The first single, "I Must Not Chase The Boys," is one you may find familiar-it is the only Play song that truly broke through to American mainstream radio. Its sound is almost haunting; and the ending is stunning. You have to hear it to understand. "Honey To The Bee" is slightly soulful pop, very hooky and another good song here. A must-have for Play fans, unless you were a strict fan of their nitty-gritty sugar sound.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Replay (Audio CD)
I have to say this album kicks butt and you can find yourself singing along and dancing to all the tracks. Here's my review. I Must Not Chase The Boys 5/5- I think the lyrics are very powerful. It's all about finding yourself and being forced to choose between a women and a girl. The music and vocals are mesmorizing. Honey to the Bee 5/5- I'm not a very big fan of slow songs but Play really made this one work. The vocals and music is awesome and the lyrics are fun. Faye really hits great notes in this song. Just A Little 4/5- I think this song is something you can dance and work out too. It's about getting a boy to open up and getting much closer in a relationship. The vocals are great(of course faye does a good job with her high notes) and the lyrics are alright. It's an R&B song and that's good that Play do something else then Pop. Whole Again 5/5- Again Play make a slow song into fun. This is a romantic song about a girl trying to get her boyfriend back. The vocals are wonderful and so are the music and lyrics. It's a lot better then the horible version by Atomic Kitten. Play make them sound like the group name is Atomic Kittie Litter, not Atomic Kitten. Hot 4/5- During the chorus the vocals don't sound very real but during the verses they make up for it by singing much better. It's a R&B song with a Jamaicin twist and it's pretty cool. It doesn't really have a message, but it's still very HOT. Girls Mind 5/5- Although it's kinda short it's one of the best short songs I've heard. It's a rock/pop song just like I Must Not Chase The Boys. It has a pop style theme during the verses but during the chorus it has a rocky edge. I love the lyrics becuase it's about how girls are confusing sometimes and guys can never really know them perfectly. What Is Love 5/5- GREAT VOCALS AND LYRICS! You can really understand the girls in this song as they talk about love as a "Complicated simple truth". It's really about how love is an unidentified feeling that's hard to understand. "It's like dancing when you walk, and singing when you talk" is another way Play describe it in the song. This song is another great hit that I'm sure Play fans will love. 11 out of 10 4/5- I don't really understand the song lyrics but I find myself singing them all the time. It's a pretty good song. The vocals and music are okay and I think you'll enjoy them. Let's Get to The Love Part 5/5- The vocals are great thanks to Faye's magical notes and the music and lyrics are very good too. It's about having a boring realationship and how to stop talking so much about their lives all the time and have some fun. I really like this song and I'm always listening to it. 2 Blocks Down 5/5- I love this song. It's just so diferent. It's kinda like I Must Not Chase The Boys and Girls Mind except switched. It has more of a Pop sound during the chorus and some light rock during the verses. If you really listen to the words, it's about a girl and a boy who have had a life long relationship. They have broken up and left, but in the future find out it was a mistake. He's the only one she's ever opened up to, and she misses him. Neither of them will say sorry, but they are going to meet in the park. He doesn't know at all what she looks like anymore, because it has been so long, but she describes herself as the girl on the bridge. The song is mostly about this guy tracking her down and how they made a mistake. It has a great story and lyrics, and is an awesome song. Aint No Mountain High Enough 5/5- It's a great way to end the album with this classic song remade by Play. The lyrics are the same and the vocals are very powerful and so is the message. What can I say? There aint no mountain high enough, no valley low enough, or river wide enough to keep fans from buying this album.

A Kid's Review

I love this CD!!! I Must Not Chase the Boys is really catchy and the music video is great too. It is definitely better than their first album. These songs dont have that cutsie young sound to them, like Us Against the World and all that from the first CD. These songs have a more mature sound. I liked their first album too, but this one really made me a play fan.
