Book Description

August 22, 2008

In A Report on the Afterlife of Culture, one of Canada's most provocative writers ranges across continents, centuries and linguistic traditions to examine how literary culture and our perception of history are changing as the world grows smaller. Henighan is equally engaged with the word and the world.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is criticism...respectful of genuine literary accomplishment and merciless towards pretence and muddle. How badly we need it." --The Toronto Star

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, January 16, 2012

This review is from: A Report on the Afterlife of Culture (Paperback)
As a follow-on from my clash with Brian Myers over his laughable 'Reader's Manifesto', which dealt among other things with book reviews, may I commend this collection of the things, wide-ranging (the author is an accomplished linguist) and great fun. Life's too short to read or know everything so I'm grateful for such lively mediators. Must investigate his book on Canadian lit next, which puts the boot into the dire Fugitive Pieces among other things - something of which Myers would no doubt approve
