Great Book!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (School Days Series) (School & Library Binding)
This book grabs you and ... you in! It has a great beginning and it's very funny. You feel the emotions of the characters and I never laugh out loud when reading a book, but I did when reading this one! I got this book from RIF, a program where you get a free book. Thid book is about 4 kids who are starting in Junior High at 6th grade. On the first day, the WHOLE first day(!) they get into some very crazy things.1. They get hijected on the school bus and are taken to the local Getty Gas Station. Then they walk home. 2. While trying to eat lunch with the principal, a hamster burrows into thier burritos! And more! I reccomend this book to Jerry Spinnelli fans

What a way to start the school year!,
By Josh (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office! (School Daze Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sunny is mean, despite her cheery name, and she'll do whatever it takes to get expelled from Plumstead Middle School. Eddie is a wimp, and he'll do whatever it takes to not be killed by seventh and eigth graders. Salem is a writer, and she's always taking notes about life so she can have a good story. Pickles invents stuff, and is well-liked around town. These four kids have only one thing in common--they're going to report to the principal's office! This book was pretty good. I really like Jerry Spinelli's books, and this book was no exception. There were a lot of funny parts. But there were also a lot of boring parts. I would still recommend this book to someone, though. Another thing I like about this book is it tells the truth about sixth grade life. There are so many other books about sixth grade that are so unrealistic.

The First In The School Daze Series Is A Hit!,

This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (School Days Series) (School & Library Binding)
"Report To The Principal's Office" gave me many hours of fun and laughter and "awwww"s. Jerry Spinelli has created a group of 4 sixth-graders whose adventures are side-splitting funny and reminiscent of the Junior High days. The plot isn't what's important, it's the human interest story. For example, cheering when Sunny washes her hair for the first time in 3 weeks because she finally decides she could get used to her new school, or laughing with Pickles when he catches the hamster, or feeling awful for Eddie who sacrificed himself for Salem... Jerry Spinelli writes like the movies, where you hear the swelling music at the end for the hero and you want to stand up and yell encouragement. The books are easy to read, and fun to memorize, and lots of fun to pass on to others. I wholeheartidly recommend the School Daze Series to everyone except maybe the upstrung politicians with a pickle up their tush. The other 3 books in the School Daze Series are: "Who Ran My Underware Up The Flagpole?" "Picklemania" and "Do The Funky Pickle", all by Jerry Spinelli.

Nick's Review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office! (School Daze Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'd recommend this book to anyone who has read one of Jerry Spinelli's books. With all of its action, it's one fantastic book. This book has many protagonists. Their names are Sunny, Pickles, Salem, and Eddie. They are all going to a new school. Salem wants to write a story and she will do anything to get one. Sunny is trying to get expelled. Eddie just keeps running into trouble. Well, Pickles, he doesn't do a lot. I think this book is very much like There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sachar. They are very much like each other because in both books they go to the principal's office. Also, in both books there are many protagonists.
I like this book in all ways. I like it because Jerry Spinelli made it sound funny and I like funny books. I think this book deserves 4 ½ stars. It is one fantastic book. To understand it better, read the next book in the series called Do the Funky Pickle.

Principal's Office Peril,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office! (School Daze Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
The book " Report to the Principal's Office," was in my opinion, a very good book. It has a mix of humor, mystery, and adventure. It's about a book named Eddie Mott, a girl named Salem Brownmiller, a new school principal, a total crouch named Sunny, and the famous "Pickles" Johnson. They all go to the new school Plumsted High. Plumsted has all the latest technology, such as an air conditioner, surveillance cameras, and a P.A. system. They have to face bullies, the principal, and a whole school band concert, while trying to find a hamster. The hamster is the new school mascot.
The people that like any books by Louis Sachar or Jerry Spenelli will like this book a lot. My favorite part of the book was when the hamster came back. You have to read it to understand why.

Eddie, Pickles, Salem and Sunny are all beginning their first day at Plumstead Middle School. Salem is an aspiring writer,Sunny is an aspiring grouch, Eddie is a wimp, and Pickles is famous for decorating his Christmas tree with pickles. All are unique, funny characters (especially Pickles) This may be a less serious story than "Maniac Magee", but all the books in this series are creative and fun to read. This is the first in the series, and the second one might be a liitle better. It's great to read an original book about junior high when almost all books in the "Young Adult" category are the same.

Alivia's Review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office! (School Daze Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jerry Spinelli's award wining book Report to the Principal's Office is an amazing novel where every step off the way is mysterious and interesting. Sunny, a girl who was schooled at Cedar Grove Middle School is transferred to Plumstead Middle School but Hillary (Sunny's best friend) stays at the old school. Sunny is determined to get herself suspended. Then there's Eddie. Eddie has a plan to fit in but still has to try harder. Salem wants to get a good story and does whatever she can to do so. And then there's Pickles who is a trouble-making boy. This book I would rate a four star. This book reminded me of the wonderful novel by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter, because Harry is a boy who gets bullied around just like Eddie. Harry is also like Sunny Wyler who gets transferred to a new school just like Harry, but Harry gets transferred to a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Over all the book was pretty interesting. The plot was good and fun, but I like Harry Potter even better. If you like this book don't forget to read another Jerry Spinelli book, Do the Funky Pickle!

Pretty good!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office! (School Daze Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has boring parts in it, but some parts are exciting. I don't think it stinks or anything. I mean, I really do like it, but a few chapters aren't as good as the other chapters. This book has 25 chapters, but on the 12th chapter they might still be on the first few days of school. We read this book as a class and most of the class liked this book. I also liked it, but it could have been better.

Why Is There A Dead Hamster In The Fridge?,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Report To The Principal's Office! (School Daze Series) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jerry Spinelli wrote this book about kids in their new school. My favorite part of the book is when a group of students have lunch with the principal in his office, and they find a hamster in their food. There are some great characters in this book. Sunny is a girl who has to leave her best friend, Hillary, behind at her old school. Eddie is a boy who wants to make a new start at his "new" school. Then there's Pickles; he likes Eddie, so he spends his time trying to protect Eddie from the older students who want to pick on Eddie.
I liked this book because it was very funny. I thought some of the story was boring. The big question is, "Why is there a dead hamster in the fridge?" Julian East Intermediate Greenville, Ohio |
