Book Description

April 10, 2000
"The Reporter's Notebook" is meant to be the number one writing tool for our youngest journalists, students in grades third through eighth. It's a no-nonsense way for students to organize their deadlines, plan out their interviews, keep track of schedules, and take notes during interviews. The first third of the book contains forms and checklists and helpful hints. This "is" a reporter's notebook, which means plenty of lined pages for organizing thoughts, taking notes, and writing stories. The young user will find encouraging advice from professional writers throughout these lined pages including hints from Frank DeFord, Abigail Van Burn, Leonard Maltin, Art Buchwald, Clifton Daniel, Rex Reed, Dave Barry, John Stossel, Roger Ebert, Connie Chung, Daniel Schorr, and others.

2.0 out of 5 stars Half of the book is blank reserved for notes!, December 1, 2005
This review is from: The Reporter's Notebook : Writing Tools for Student Journalists (Spiral-bound)
Pages 38 to 97 -- half the book -- is just blank space for notes, which you could just as well write in a 10-cent, 70-page notebook spiral. The beginning of the book is mostly made up of pages with simple checklists and address forms, with some bulletted questions here and there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Notebook a Decent Supplement to Journalist Courses, December 2, 2003
By
Tracy (Owensboro, KY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Reporter's Notebook : Writing Tools for Student Journalists (Spiral-bound)
Mark Levin's notebook for journalism students proves itself an invaluable tool in journalism and media courses. Aside from pages of information to record sources, story ideas, and more, hints and tips are scattered throughout the spiral bound book. This book is a must for any journalism student, or anyone simply interested in writing news stories.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly constructed and adds little value, September 5, 2007
By
This review is from: The Reporter's Notebook : Writing Tools for Student Journalists (Spiral-bound)
I purchased this book thinking that it was an in-depth resource for journalists. It looks like something that someone pulled together on their home computer. It provides basic information that you can find in Strunk and White. Not worth the money!
